I am looking for all information on this cruise. We get to San Juan at 5:00pm, leave at 12:00am...what to do while there?

Any good excursuons in St. Thomas and St. Maaritan? We like to book off the ships.

Any information will be great help to us:)

thanks

Darlene

We are on the Pride, stopping in St Martin's somewhere around Apr 15. We booked the America's Cup sailing, based on recommendation from others who have done it. Supposed to be one of the most popular excursions anywhere. But you must book through the ship.

On YouTube, try searching for St. Martin's. The airport is right by a beach and there are numerous videos of planes landing just overhead, and others showing ppl getting blown off the beach by the jets on takeoff. Quite funny, actually. Looks like free entertainment.

The Liberty is my favorite ship, so far!! I LOVED IT! Here is a link that might offer some helpful info:

Also, for San Juan, I would recommend walking up hill from the ship, just a couple blocks and touring Ft. San Cristobal---an old fort that is in ruin now and it only costs a few dollars to enter. We were there for sunset and it was beautiful.

For St. Thomas, I would definitely suggest the BOB/BOSS excursion through Carnival. SO FUN! It's a motor scooter that you ride UNDER water....really cool and totally worth the money!

Enjoy the Liberty---she's my favorite!

I read on some post that the Fort Tours are closed in the evening? If anyone knows if this is happening now, please let me know?

Just returned from the 2/7/09 Eastern Sailing on Liberty. San Juan is pretty much a wasted stop at night. 5pm - Midnight, mostly everything worth seeing or doing is closed or near closing. The night stop is about the nightlife in Puerto Rico. We had rain that night so we stayed onboard. We used that night as our night to eat at the supper club.

As for tours off the boat, it's hands down Godfrey's Tours in St. Thomas.

http://godfreytoursvi.com/info.html.

St. Maarten we just did shopping and wandered around soaking up paradise.

As for the Carnival Liberty... We had a blast! The ship is beautiful, the food was average to above average and the staff were outstanding!

Have a great trip!

We went Nov 30-Dec 6. San Juan was dark soon after we arrived. We had booked a tour of the city---so not worth it as it started at 6pm & it was dark. There are plenty of places, shops etc you can walk to. We also saw the Juan Carlos Flamenco Show in San Juan. It was cheaper if you booked it off the ship. The show was terrific & we loved it. There were tons of taxis and vans just as you get off the ship, which were far cheaper than our tour on a large bus.

In St Thomas we did Blackbeard's castle & an island tour. We enjoyed both. Megan's Bay is beautiful.

In St Martin, we did a tour of both sides of the island. It was just OK.

I am sorta confussed...I have read that the shops are open late, the tours are good at night and that the ship may arrive at 3:00???

I think I need more reading to do :)

Thanks you for all the information

Hi Darlene-

We stopped in SJ in the evening, as well, but we did have time to walk to Ft. San Cristobal and get some really lovely pictures before/during sunset while touring the fort. It did close for the night while we were there but I don't remember what time. We stopped there in June, in case the time of year is of interest to you. There is another fort there called El Morro that is further away from the ship. We made sure to take pics of that one as we were pulling into San Juan, but we did not go visit it.

Here are some pics....

Thank you for all the information!!!

I really appreciate it :D

So glad to hear that there will be something to do on the San Juan stop. We were concerned that everything would be closed except the casinos
