Ocean Players Club Question

So on my last 3 Carnival Cruises I signed up for the OPC and each time never received a member number or any other acknowledgment of signing up.. (Not sure how they work it...)

I emailed them.. to find out and received a generic email response stating- Welcome back.. we have put you on our CPC List..

Anyone have any idea what this means??

Thank you!

trock,

It means they put you on their list. :)

I also emailed before each cruise and only once got a member number....which I don't have now.

Prior to last year they decorated our room and had various items delivered to our state room. For two cruises last year they gave us money the first day and for the one they gave us cards to use for one hand of blackjack, or one of the other games. I still have them.....maybe I'll remember to use them next week.

I have never received a member number, much less a card. However, UNTIL LAST MONTH, I received a plate of chocolate covered strawberries and a voucher for a free drink in my cabin after sending the "cruising again" email. On this last cruise, I received only a voucher for a free drink. Since I don't drink alcohol, it was useless to me. However, I am cruising again on April 18 and have done the "cruising again" email again. We'll see what I get this time. On one cruise, I also got a $5 voucher for a table game. Since I don't play table games (and they should know this), it wasn't exactly appropriate. However, anything they give me "free" is appreciated, and I am not complaining. My DH usually gets the "free drink"....which I guess is an extreme breach of good manners, and I will now be strung up by my toenails for admitting that we have done this.

A $5 vocucher doesn't do me any good either since my minium bets are larger than $5. However, I mostly play table games. On my last cruise the Casino Manager bought me a drink on a couple of nights in recognition of my faithful play in the casino. All said and done I play because I enjoy playing the game. If I win it makes it even better.

Is there anyway to signup on line or do you have to wait until you cruise

Did you use your S&S card while playing the slots on a past cruise? If so, I am going to assume they already have your info and know that you have gambled on a Carnival ship. Just go to their site at ocean players club dot com and look for the "Cruising Again" link at the top of the page. Fill it out and see what happens. If you have not played with your S&S card before, I'm not sure how you go about registering. Browse their site, and it will probably tell you.

Obviously, you are a much more serious "player" than I am, and I would hope they would reward you accordingly. As with any casino perks, I'm sure it depends on how much money you give them as to what they give you back. ;)

On my last Fantasy cruise in January I won a lot playing 3 Card Poker. I was getting 3 of a kind and straight flushes. At least one of each 3 of 4 nights. I think the pit boss decided he wanted to keep me there, so after the first night my drinks were on Carnival. I'm thinking he thought if I had a couple of drinks I might give Carnival some of their money back. Joke was on him-after a couple of absolute & cranberry I switched to diet coke. Still kept winning and came home with a about 90% of the money I won.

Of course I'm sure on my cruise next month I'll give them some of thier money back-too bad the same pit boss won't be there to see it. In all my cruises I don't think I ever been so lucky.

I have received on different trips, room decorations, snacks, free play, points and booze (singles and bottles) from them. Never received a membership number or anything like that. I drop them an e-mail prior to sailing with date, ship, cabin number and info for last cruise. Have received an e-mail back telling how they are looking forward to seeing me again. I am not by any stretch a big player. I always make it a point to meet the Head Casino Host/Manager and thank them for the comps, gifts, etc. They seem to appreciate that. I had the host on the Fantasy tell me that it was very rare for anyone to thank them for the comps.

I don't know if I'm a more serious player than you. After all, your bets mean just as much to you as do mine to me. When playing in a casino what matters most is how much action and what time frame you are in the casino. You may not be the higest roller, but, if you play with certain minimum bets over a certain period of time then you could get some perks. It depends on how much action you give them. Size of bets times number of hours played.

That said, as I said you should really like playing the game because there is no guarentee that you would get "perks." When you pay your fare then your meals and entertainment is included. What could they do give you a meal as a comp? You already have that. An aquaitance of mine, who is much smater, than I am and he is a high roller once told me, "never play to impress the casino." He also told me, "play within yourself and play your game."

I never play with the expectation of receiving perks or even winning. If I break even, I feel like I have done well! LOL! Shhhh..... Don't tell anybody, but I feed the slot machines for the bonus rounds that are fun to play. :o I should just buy a video game and play them at home. I'd come out WAY ahead financially that way! LOL!

I've gotten the email on all my past cruises also, but never got anything. I finally called this last time (I had again sent the email of my next cruise), and I actually wasn't on the list. So I'm wondering if all this time, I was never actually put on the list? I don't know, but I'll be calling from now on!

How long before you "cruise again" do you let them know? A few weeks before sailing, a month, a few days?? Just curious. I had signed up at the desk on our last cruise but never knew you could email them and let them know you're cruising again. Thanks for that info everyone! I love to play Let It Ride won $200 last cruise - hoping I have the same luck this time around!!

My past carnival cruise was in 2001(can't remember that far back if I used my S&S card) but I did play on HAL in October so I don't know if that would make any difference.

I filled out the form and will wait to see what happens.

You can still use it. If you bet $25, just put down $20 and the $5 voucher. The bet will pay off as if you bet $25. Treat it like an additional $5 chip (that gets removed after play if you win or lose).

I think, I recall reading somewhere that you can not initially sign up on line, only on board... Rules could have changed.. or I may be wrong..

All i know is put me in front of the craps table and i am a very very happy girl!

How did you call them? I have looked on their web site (oceanplayersclub.com) and did not see a phone number.

Thanks.

Will be down in your neck of the woods this weekend visiting the Grand-Verzelyes (sp?) still open? One of my favorite restaurants in Gulpfort.

Carnival seems to have backed down on some of the casino goodies. It still play as much, if not more, but haven't had cabin decorations in awhile. Guess they are cutting costs where they can. I was looking for something the other day and came across a bag in my office that had all sorts of things from the OPC. Keychain, t-shirt, water bottle and commerative $10 coin that was inside a keychain. It was from the Inspiration when she was in NOLA.

My wife loves to play the slots and she also loves the bonus rounds you can get. If you just buy a video game and play at home then you wouldn't get the thrill of playing in the casino.
