Baby Supplies to bring

We will be traveling with an eight month old for a seven day trip.

 

I am curious if we need to pack a suitcase of diapers or if this is something that can be purchased onboard.

You'll most likely need to bring your own diapers. Depending on your cruise line and ship, some are now offering to have diapers waiting for you in your cabin when you arrive (of course you do pay a bit of a premium for this), but the rest only offer a few 'emergency' diapers in the gift shop at quite a price.

 

Just slap a luggage sticker on a box of diapers and you'll be fine!

For a 7 day cruise, we always get a large box of diapers, take out one pack and fill the other side of the box with disposable bibs, wipes, small dish detergent, bottle brush, bottles, container of powdered formula, baby food, trial size baby wash, baby lotion, swim diapers, baby meds(tylenol etc) etc. and then just put a luggage tag on it and check it with the porter and have it delivered to the stateroom with the rest of the luggage. At the end of the week most of what you brought should be gone so you can throw the box away and put whatever leftovers in with the suitcases.

 

Its worked well for us, each time we've done it. You wont be able to find formula, baby meds etc on board. If you are flying, you could always stop on the way to the port at a Walgreens, Target, Walmart etc and buy the items that way you dont have to worry about the extra expense of flying with them.

Bring EVERYTHING you will need. The ships don't carry "baby stuff" and you don't want to spend all your time in ports trying to find something you've run out of, if it's even available!!!
