Cheap MIA motel near store?

I've been searching for days now, and I can't seem to find a cheap motel (under $100) within walking distance of a grocery store. This is a last minute trip and money *is* an object, and I'd rather not pay for 4 or more taxi trips, if possible. We won't be getting into MIA until after 11:00 pm, and need to get water and soda before getting on the ship in the morning. Can anyone help?

Thanks! Janis

There is a grocery store and liquor store across the street from the Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon location, but unless you get lucky on priceline I doubt you'll get in there for under $100. Instead, find whatever "cheap" hotel you can and then just ask your cab driver to stop by a grocery store on the way to the port - extra charges for waiting should not be more than $5 or so if you are quick. Good luck!:)

Unfortunately, I doubt that you find a "decent" hotel in a "decent" location for under $100. Those are very rare in Miami! I couldn't find one and ended up spending $150 for the Holiday Inn - POM. So, good luck to you!

I can advise you on plenty of cheap hotels. the problem is you won't want to stay in any of them.

Miami is a major city, so the fair market rate is going to be starting around $125 per night for a regular type of room. And that's even pushing it.

If you are willing to make a bid you can try for a 4 star downtown Miami hotel on Priceline, many people have been wining the Hyatt for $75.00 a night and less. Try http://www.biddingfortravel.com or http://www.betterbidding.com for tips on how to bid and see what prices people have been paying for hotels. The Hyatt is located in downtown Miami, you can take the people mover to get to Bayside and the downtown area.. cannot recall a grocery store but there is a CVS where you can get water, soda and snacks.

You can also try discount hotel sites such as http://www.easyclicktravel.com and http://www.1800hotels.com for cheap rates. I saw several hotels on there for under 100.00. Good luck.

Thank you everyone that replied. I looked at the Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon last night, and they wanted $104 for a pre-paid room. This morning it was $84.15 (only $95.09 w/tax)! I understand it is near stores, and even has a free airport shuttle and free breakfast, so I'm very happy.

Thank you, Cruise Critic members! You guys are awesome!:D
