Ouestion:WHERE,does the Rhapsody dry dock?

Most of the ships drydock in the Grand Bahamas Shipyard in Freeport. I doubt it is done in a US port (for the same reasons they don't build the cruise ships in the US - $$$$$$)

The Rhapsody dry docks in Mobile Alabama. Last time was 2 yrs ago in April. I married a crew man that week so when I took him back to the ship I got to see her out of the water.. amazing to behold.

I was wondering on a 2 week dry dock,why they would take her so far away.Its a day 1/2 sail to Key West...then what,most of another day to Bahamas..

Thanks! All is well here. We just had our 2 yr anniversary. My BIL is working on the Brillance of the Seas. My next cruise is this October on the Voyager. My group decided to try something different this year.

 

It is possible if the Rhapsody is going into dry dock again that they may take it somewhere else. I know that last time the ship was in New Orleans and then after dry dock came to Galveston. The crew sailed it with no passengers and loved it. They got run of the ship, had the bars open and casino open. They got to experience cruising without working for a change. I got a few drunk phone calls that night.. LOL

There was a thread running about that last week.

I guess there is usually some pre-work that is being done.If you are not overly sensitive to some workers while your on board,I wouldn't see a problem.I would be more concerned about the week after.You know kinda like an inagural sailing,where all the bugs have not been worked out,or they are still finishing up,or....can't sail at all.I guess it would also depend on what was being done. The Rhapsody is already scheduled to be back in GAlveston to sail on the 14th of Nov following her DD .I have friends booked on her in March 05..so it looks like she is ours at least for a short while.

I went on the Rhapsody last time right before dry dock.. they redid the dining room and the lounge area at that time. I didnt think it made a big difference to sail the week before. You really dont notice the workers any more than you do on a normal cruise. They are always working on the ships to keep them spruced up. What are they docking her for this time?
