soprano Posted December 3, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 3, 2004 We're on the Coral Princess in February, and have a shore excursion arranged that is scheduled to get back to the pier at noon. The Coral is in Puerto Limon until 7pm. Can anyone give me information about what the Pier in Limon is like? Is there shopping and/or dining available? If not, how close is town? Thanks! Vidimom Posted December 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 7, 2004 There is a very nice shopping area right at the pier. We found some of the most unique crafts there. The prices are great! We got coffee there and it's GOOD!!! As far as restaurants, there were a few across the street from the pier area. It's not a great area, but we didn't feel threatened walking around there. We personally hired a driver in Costa Rica for $10.00 each and he took us all over Costa Rica including a banana plantation, the beach, mountain top and a city tour. We enjoyed seeing how others live and saw a few monkeys, a sloth and iguana's in the trees. A popular item that is sold in Costa Rica are hand painted feathers mounted on a mat and framed. There were some gorgeous ones. The price ranged from $3.00 for a small one to $30.00 for a large one that had 5 large feathers with a beautiful painting of a sea turtle on it. There are alot of wood carvings also. The people of Costa Rica are very nice and not pushy! Have a great trip!
