Embarking at the next port of call

Does anyone know the rules on this? Someone in our party cannot get the time off for the original day of embarkation, but will be able to board at the next port. I've tried calling Princess about this and they wouldn't give us a straight answer other than "book the cruise, then dispatch will decide." Problem is that once you book, the cruise becomes non-refundable.

This is for a European cruise, so the Jones Act (US) shouldn't come into play here.

IME (in my experience), it depends upon the embarkation port and debarkation port. Since you won't be dealing with the US, I doubt that there would be a problem.

That is standard M.O. for these kind of situations - book, submit letter requesting different embarkation point, wait for response.

We, just a day ago, received approval from dispatch to disembark in Oslo on our return cruise from copenhagen...so it's very possible they'll let this passenger get on in stockholm. What we did is purchased the platinum insurance so if we had to cancel we'd get 100% credit towards another cruise. And it's extra insurance if one of us gets sick i guess. But I think it will work out for you...but you do have to submit a fax request with booking number to dispatch. Dispatch then sends the request to the ship and the ship approves/denies it. If approved the ship puts you on a list, which we are on now to disembark in olso. Best of luck!
