lady in tx Posted May 2, 2009 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2009 Are either of these beaches near Montego Bay port recommended? We have 4 kids. Thanks! I would recommend Doctor's Cave Beach. I have read somewhere on there that the fletcher beach is more like a locals beach but you may want to do your own research and come to your own conclusion. In case you haven't read my post this is what I posted a previous thread: We arrived in Jamaica the beginning of Dec. 2008 and we went to Doctor's Cave Beach. I wasn't sure if I would like it there, but I also knew that I was not going to stay on the ship another day! LOL We took a shuttle to Doctor's Cave Beach. We paid $5 per person. Upon our arrival we went to the front desk and paid to rent 2 chairs, and an umbrella. The beach was nice but the day was very windy and a little cloudy. We only ordered drinks (coke) from the grooper. I believe the coke's were $2.00 or $2.50. If you like frozen drinks they are start at $8.00. They "wait staff" come around asking if you want to order something. We had a very nice, & relaxing day at Doctor's Cave Beach. They do not have lockers there. We left our stuff on your chair and kept a close eye on it. Nobody never got close to our area. They have a restroom and a place where you can rinse off before you enter their restroom. Now, when you leave Doctor's Cave, at least when we left there was a group of guys and one lady at the entrance and as soon as we stepped outside of the bldg, they all began asking if we wanted a taxi to go back to the ship. We said no, we're going shopping and they quit bugging us. We walked down the street and we were offered to buy some drugs twice but we just said no and kept walking. After we got done shopping we took a taxi and went back to the ship. We had a great day on the beach, it was leaving the beach and being around pushy people that do not care about your personal space! OMG!! LOL Here are some pics from our day at Doctor's Cave Beach. Feel free to ask any questions.
Nantucketer Posted May 2, 2009 #5 Share Posted May 2, 2009 Just returned from a day at Doctors Cave Beach. I agree with everything the above poster stated. Two water trampolines are available to play on as well as snorkle gear to rent. The beach, water and restrooms were very clean. At the far end of the beach you could rent jet skis for $55 for a half hour, one or two people. They also had a glass bottom boat there and a catamaran. When we were finished at the beach, we walked up to Margariteville. A bit of a dive, but a great water slide for the older kids (adults too). No shopping on this trip and were able to avoid the constant hassle of the locals to buy or take a taxi.

thehogsters Posted May 12, 2009 #7 Share Posted May 12, 2009 Could you tell me more about Aqua Sol? Prices, activities - I went to their website, but couldn't find many details on it. Thank you to all who posted about Dr. Cave Beach - lovely pics. :) Aqua Sol is $5.00 pp just like Doc Caves. What we liked better about Aqual Sol is its wayyyyyyyy less crowded. We only saw 3 local teens there and they were very well behaved. They had a nice gift shop and bar & grill. This was one of the best days of our trip.:D

country-elegance Posted May 24, 2009 #10 Share Posted May 24, 2009 If you would like a nice lounge chair to stretch your legs and feet out on to tan or relax under a umbrella, Dr Caves beach is not for you. I could not believe the little sling chairs that we had to set on. They where not comfortable at all. Ended up a someother beach farther down paying $5 each again for a descent lounge chair. When we left no one asked us if we wanted drugs, only taxis. Went shopping on our own. No problems. across from Margaritaville there is a building with a water fall going down the front . That building is a casino. We played a couple of american dollars into the machines. The watress came around and gave us free drinks. Lots of fun there !!! cruzer0415 Posted June 28, 2009 #14 Share Posted June 28, 2009 I have really enjoyed these postings. We are sailing on the Conquest 11/29/2009. I think after reading this that I have decided on AquaSol. How much was the taxi fare from the port to the park?

eLav8 Posted April 30, 2010 #17 Share Posted April 30, 2010 Still undecided between Aqua Sol and Doctors Cave, but I am curious as to how much a cab ride is. We sail in 8 days! Nevermind...through a good bit of searching, i have finally found that the avg cab ride is $5 to the "Hip Strip." I am leaning towards AquaSol/Fletcher Beach w/lunch @ the Pork Pit...maybe even drop in @ Margaritaville as well since my mother has been dying to go to one. I know Mville is expensive, but does anyone know how it compares to the other ones we will encounter on our trip, cost/atmosphere wise? We will be in MoBay, GrandCay, and Coz. I have been to the MVille in Las Vegas before, but that is is.
