Of course' date=' it probably wasn't a good ship to sail on either...[/quote']She certainly wasn't a very lucky ship, as that BBC page attests, but she was quite well-regarded in her prime. By 1994 she was very old, but I know several people who were on her in the early 1990s and were quite pleased, though she was certainly a budget ship by then, and quite old of course.

The sister ship to the Achille Lauro, the "something" Lauro (I forget the actually full name, but it also was a Lauro, wasn't so lucky either. A few years back, while docked in St. Thomas, she caught fire. She burned out pretty good and finally turned over on her side right there at the docked. For a few months, all the other ships coming to St. Thomas had to see this ship on its side as they docked right beside it. So it seems both these ships were somewhat doomed you might say.

That would have been the Angelina (SP) Lauro...saw her on a cruise back in the late '60's...
