So I Never Thought That *I* Would Be The Bonehead Who Lost Her PASSPORT.....

Then I'm a bonehead too. I can't find mine. Going to the lockbox tomorrow at the bank to check. I've exhausted all places here in house/car. I sail in 3 weeks.

Here's the prob. My BC is from France. I afraid I am going to have to take it, an expired Passport, my papers from the military stating I was born overseas, my drivers lisence, my marriage certificate and my first born child!!!!

I've always had a passport, can't remember not having it and now I can't find it!

Thanks. I had to stop and take a "stop panicing" break.

It's not with my old cruise docs. Not with my travel bags from my last cruise. Not with my current cruise docs/papers. Not where my old passport is...... There isn't any other place I would keep it.

I have NEVER lost my passport.

24 days away. Apply for a new one tomorrow, or keep looking for a few more days first???? :(

<arrrgh>

Edited to say that I am glad that you found it :) DH and I always keep our passports in a small safe and when we get home, that is literally the first thing I do, put the passports away. I've heard horror stories like this and don't ever want to find myself in one of them!

I hope you find it. Every time I see you avitar I think of my dive master who trained me. If we put our mask on our forehead it meant we were in danger. I always hope you are not in danger!!!!:D

Glad you found it...I hate that.

My best friend and I went to London for a couple weeks in 1995. She lost her passport in London.....twice! She got it back the first time and then lost it again!!!!

She didn't get it back the second time. So they(airlines) just told her, get on the plane, you won't have a problem until you land. Of course she was immediately escorted away when we landed.....:D

I have a travel wallet that we bought when all we needed was a BC. It is the first thing out of the suitcase and put away, in my nightstand top drwer. Now we have our passports in it, and when hubby traveled for work a few weeks ago, I told him he had to be grown up enough to put his away. Or risk missing our next cruise..lol.

We're paranoid about misplacing our important stuff like passports so for xmas last year I asked for a fireproof lock box so now as soon as we walk through the door after a cruise the 1st thing we do is put our passports back in the safe.

Have you not seen all the "No Passport Required" Puerto Rico commercials?

No, you wouldn't have needed it to sail from San Juan.

I "misplaced" a passport once. I knew exactly where I had last seen it, and it wasn't there. It was about to expire and I wanted to send it in for renewal and absolutely could NOT find it. And I was cruising and always take my passport with me.

Of course, when I went to renew, I had to report that I had lost it (they really don't like people losing their passport and not telling them; it could have ended up anywhere!).

Glad you found it.

Our passports stay locked in my fireproof box, along with birth certificates, car titles, etc. I got tired of misplacing my valuable documents. The box never moves and is always locked. And, so far, I haven't lost the key! :o

Glad you found it! For the sake of anyone else reading, you can get a replacement in 10 - 14 days by MAIL if you do the following:

1) Pay for expedited service (60 bucks extra)

2) Pay for overnight delivery both ways (about $30 total)

My good friend and cruise pal gave me a cruise for my bday and unbeknownst to me, my passport had expired in March instead of lasting thru May like I thought. Door-to-door time for me was 10 days.

Mailed out overnight on a Monday night, received by the passport agency Weds morning, mailed back to me the the following Tuesday, arrived on a Wednesday.

If 10 days or less, you can still get a passport in under 48 hours, but it requires a trip to a regional passport agency which may be quite a long way away from you. (There are only 2 in all of CA.)

It was a real nail-biter for me as I was only 3 weeks out from my departure date and the info on the passport website says Expedited service can take as long as 3 weeks. I learned my lesson, though!

You are not a bonehead, so stop beating yourself over the head with a club. I nearly lost my passport and ALL ID when my purse was stolen in February. Luckily, the person who snatched my purse out of the grocery cart in the parking lot was after cash only. They took the approx $40 cash and left everything else....including a $100 MP3 player......

When I got my purse back I promptly took my ID out and put my old passport in there for picture ID.....

Nice guy.

I'm not brave enough to carry around my passport, even when on the islands. :o

Glad you got it back!
