hawaiideb Posted April 28, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2009 Our airline has just changed our flight out after our cruise to 12:05. Having horrible thoughts about missing our flight, due to checking through customs, etc... It is the last flight of the day heading east, and we cannot push our flights back a day due to work obligations. Any suggestions??
inar Posted April 29, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 29, 2009 Which ship and date are you cruising? Generally, all ships arrive in Vancouver at 0700.
inar Posted April 29, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 29, 2009 The N. Sun docks at 0700. It may say 0800 on your itinerary, but will be at Canada Place at 0700. You may wish to participate in the US Direct program is you are a US citizen and are on one of the qualifying airlines that participate in the program. Putterdude Posted April 29, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 29, 2009 If you are returning directly to the US and your airlline is a participant in the US Direct program you will be able to make the 12:05 flight. Here is a link for your review. http://www.portmetrovancouver.com/about/cruiseandtourism/usdirectprocess.aspx
Nachtswerg Posted April 29, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 29, 2009 It's not far of a trip between downtown and the airport (I used to do it in 30 minutes max every week), but keep in mind traffic in the morning. Still, 4 hours should be plenty of time.

Still, 4 hours should be plenty of time. It's not the 30 min drive that is the issue, the problem is: The ship gets in at 7am but with paperwork etc the first pax are seldom off the ship before 8 and then they must get their luggage and clear CDN customs and that can take an hour, then they have to line up for a cab and that can take up to an hour, then there is the 30/35 min drive to the airport....they must be at the airport a min of 2 full hours before there flight to clear US customs and security. Without US Direct a noon flight is just too tight.
scottbee Posted April 29, 2009 #7 Share Posted April 29, 2009 With airports you never know. It took me 31 minutes to exit the car park at YVR yesterday
