Should we get a hotel or drive in?

We live only 3 hours away from the Jacksonville port. We are trying to decide if we should get a hotel and drive in the day before or since we live so close, should we just get up early and drive in the same morn.? We usually leave out of Fort Lauderdale or Miami and always drive in the day before. I'm not sure what to do. What would most of you do if you live within 3 hours of the port?

For me, three hours isn't a big drive. As much as I'd like to support our Jacksonville hotel industry, I'd probably make the drive in the morning and head right to the port. We're about that distance from Port Canaveral and I'm sure I'd just drive it if we ever cruised out of there.

Thanks for the response. I think that's what we are going to do. We'll just leave early in the a.m. so we can allow for traffic and for a sit down breakfast.:)

Unless you get a deal on a hotel that offer free parking while you cruise, I think driving in that morning makes the most sense. Good luck!:)

I'm about 3 1/2 hours away from Miami. I usually get a hotel because I don't want to take the chance of there being a major accident on the highway. I'd rather spend a little extra money to guarantee I'll be there on time. Plus, it gets me an extra day of my vacation.

I would drive in a day early.

 

We live about three hours from Charlotte and with international flights often fly out of CLT. We always drive in a day early.
