pms4104 Posted April 29, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2009 For those who are price checking or shopping ... HAL just posted a 3-day sale good today thru May 1. On HAL's site, go to "Special Offers" and click on the sale link. Still more than what we're paying, but it was worth my checking it out.
beamteam Posted April 29, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 29, 2009 Thanks so much for the heads up. We had called but our categorie was not on sale. I thought they had dropped all the prices for all cabins.

2cruisealot Posted April 29, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 29, 2009 Yeah we are looking at the Panama Canal cruises in November but they all seem to be the same price as before, so looks like those ones are not really on sale either!
papergypsy Posted April 29, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 29, 2009 Yeah, got this around midnight yesterday and was on the phone to my TA this morning - I was excited about those "upgrades from $50" on the special. Unfortunately, we have an SS and HAL told our TA that there were SCs available for another $150 for each of us, but no SB, SA or PS. We just said no. So I guess this means that they will probably not be upgrading us in June - so sad!
jerseygirl3 Posted April 30, 2009 #6 Share Posted April 30, 2009 Sale didn't work for us either on the Jan. 3 sailing of Westerdam.
sail7seas Posted April 30, 2009 #7 Share Posted April 30, 2009 So far as I could see in the e-mail, Deluxe Veranda Suites are not eligible. :(
LVSue Posted April 30, 2009 #8 Share Posted April 30, 2009 Papergypsy, I might consider the SC upgrades for $150. I like the Neptune perks and the free laundry (plus increase in size of room). I've recently read good things about those SC cabins with the wrap-around balconies. I hate to admit it, but we paid $399 ea. for an upgrade to SA from SS on our last cruise, so $150 sounds good. I discovered after meandering around the sale site that the $50 upgrade only applied to certain sailings (the ones I saw were European). When I saw that, it all became clear. leoandhugh Posted April 30, 2009 #9 Share Posted April 30, 2009 It appears that there are so many restrictions and so many categories to which the "sale" does not apply, I do not consider it a sale at all. This seems to be coming more and more the modus operandi for HAL, so soon I will not even bother to check.:(

JoKen1 Posted April 30, 2009 #11 Share Posted April 30, 2009 Looks like the price on my upcoming cruise for my room dropped $100 a person. So I sent an email to my TA asking about the lower price. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Since I'm going solo I hope I get $200 off. But even $100 would make me happy. Joanne
SLKB Posted April 30, 2009 #12 Share Posted April 30, 2009 Not just with this sale, but generally are upgrades only available if you book directly with HAL? If I purchase through an online cruise broker will HAL still upgrade if I'm willing to shell out the extra $$ ??
CDRMark Posted April 30, 2009 #13 Share Posted April 30, 2009 And still, this e-mail got DW and I booking a cruise that we were dithering about. So they apparently work, mm? And a roll-call member says it saved them over $100. Cheers Mark
