Markk Posted December 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 6, 2004 Read about the carib indian village in Dominica on the net. I heard they make beautiful baskets and am thinking of visiting the village while we are there. Can anyone who has been there tell me more about it. How far from the port? Cab costs per person, etc.
Stillfloatin' Posted February 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2005 We'll be in Dominica on Feb 22 and are also interested in visiting the Caribs. The only thing we could find was Ken's Hinterland tours but he doesn't do that one for cruise customers. Maybe too long?
Stillfloatin' Posted March 8, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 8, 2005 Markk: just got back last week from Dominica. Hired a fantastic guide named Beno. He took us to the Carib territory and we had an amazing time. Bought some beautiful woven baskets and purses, fans, etc. You can read my review on the "robbed at gunpoint in Dominica" thread (although, I considering posting a separate thread for my review). Anyway, I highly recommend Beno, who took us to meet a long-time Carib friend of his named Moses who explained how the baskets are made, the history of the Caribs, etc. You can contact Beno at benox265@hotmail.com
