Beachbum1944 Posted May 6, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted May 6, 2009 I don't think it really matters. There are plenty for rent.
Aplmac Posted May 6, 2009 #6 Share Posted May 6, 2009 What would be the earliest time would you recommend getting to Accra in the morning to ensure getting beach chairs The beach chair guys are probably there from about 8:30/9 a.m. although things don't move much before 10 or so You'll need an umbrella too. Accra sun is roasting hot, even for locals with thicker skin. Even under the umbrella you'll get a tan from the reflected light off the white sand itself, and off the sea. There is no escape other than SPF 50 -my wife lathers me,when we go! .
Aplmac Posted May 6, 2009 #7 Share Posted May 6, 2009 I don't think it really matters. There are plenty for rent. There's not many days those guys run outa chairs to rentand even so, that won't happen before 1 p.m. on a verrry busy day. ;) Once you get there before 12 Noon you are virtually guaranteed to get a chair and an umbrella! . account4fun Posted May 8, 2009 #9 Share Posted May 8, 2009 We have an excursion until 2pm and the ship leaves at 5:30. Do we have time to go to Accra? Would we be rushed and if so is it better to stick somewhere close like the boatyard (even though not the best beach).

Aplmac Posted May 13, 2009 #11 Share Posted May 13, 2009 aplmac if we go to Accra Beach is there a place to eat lunch and also is there bathroom facilities? You haven't read thru the Accra threads, clearly, but that's OK In answer to your question yes yes yes. Why do you think it's so popular? Coz everything's right there. Just beware of the ogre at Chicken George's food shack! Seriously. He'll eat you. And charge you for it. Read the threads to find out more . Aplmac Posted May 13, 2009 #12 Share Posted May 13, 2009 We have an excursion until 2pm and the ship leaves at 5:30. Do we have time to go to Accra? ===> Not quite? Would we be rushed and if so is it better to stick somewhere close like the Boatyard (even though not the best beach). Ship leaves at 5:30 ?You should aim to be getting back to the Port area around 4:30 latest due to congestion at Port gate and thousands of other cruisers from your ship (and 2 or 3 others in Port that day?) ALL returning around same time.!! Go to a nearby beach instead...Brandons/Malibu -or Boatyard, yes! where you can walk the 20 mins. back (it'll be faster than a taxi stuck in traffic) Maybe if you can get your tour to terminate AT ACCRA...that could work but to terminate the tour at the Port?...then to catch a taxi to Accra...maybe not.. ..hard to say...depends on the traffic...depends on if your tour does actually terminate at 2:00 -and not at 2:25 ! Doesn't take much, in the islands. ;) .

toonjie Posted May 17, 2009 #15 Share Posted May 17, 2009 aplmac if we go to Accra Beach is there a place to eat lunch and also is there bathroom facilities? Thanks in advance! :) Hi Ken, if you want some really good food, then I recommend Sugar Reef Restaurant, it's expensive, but a great sit down meal right on the beach. There are also loads of inexpensive places as well.
