Will our suite be big enough for three?

Recommended Posts

My wife and I have booked a A4 courtyard villa on a 5 night cruise to Ireland and have just been informed by my mother that she would like to join us on the cruise. She has checked the price of single occupancy and finds it to be very expensive. My wife and I are wondering if there is enough room in our suite to accomodate my mother as well. Is this feasable or is it likely to ruin our holiday?

Hi Rainbow

Do you mean an A4 (not C4) courtyard villa? That room will only hold 2, they might not even allow a third booking to the room? Having said that the couch might pull out, (it does on the A3's). IMO you should switch to an A3 which has a small second bedroom and will not be that much more in dollars.

We are trying to decide if we should add 2 more people to our A3 you say that it shouldn't be that much more. Could you give me an idea of about what we could expect?

Usually the 3rd passenger rate in a suite is not much more than other cabins. Go to NCL's website and pretend you're booking for 3 people in that category cabin and you'll see what the actual price is. It's definitely less than booking a single (double room rate) for a different cabin. Good luck!

Hi Spoiled,

To add the 3rd and 4th guest will be less expesive as they will not pay the fare attached to the first two guests. I would say depending on the cruise you could be looking at anywhere from 3 to 4 hundred each, as opposed to much more for a seperate cabin, even an inside. Plus they will have access to the perks of the Courtyard area which are wonderful.

Beware, however, that the second bedroom is very cozy (read small ;-)) no window. It does have a small TV and its own small WC. The main bedroom is a larger and has a more comfertable bed, and looks into the main WC and its windows etc

Cheers!.

Its usually $200-$300 plus port and tax per person depending on the sailing.

Then Mum will have to get a cabin by herself unless an A3 or an AB come available.

Unless Mum is in the booked into a room in the courtyard, Mum won't be able to join them.

The five day the end of May has an inside cabin for $698.00. Not bad for a single.

Actually, I think that's quite high for a 5-nighter in an I/C. I'm on a 10-nighter to Quebec City RT from NY for less than that. I figure $80 pp a night for an I/C, $100 pp a night for an O/V, and $120 pp for a Balcony is a good rule of thumb for a reasonably priced cruise. Of course some are a little more due to popularity, while others can be less (i.e. my Canada/NE cruise in September).

Good rule of thumb for double occupancy. The $698 solo translates to $68pp per night if it were double. Keep in mind a solo normally pays 2X the double fare.

It seems I misread the poster...I thought he was referring to the pp cost for the I/S cabin based on double occupancy. Now I see he said the price was $698 total for the cabin. Yes, good deal!

Since it is so cheap I think we will have them (mom & sis) join us us in the courtyard. I do have a question about the bed in the guest bedroom if you can help. They wouldn't have a problem being in the same bed if it isn't too small but so far I haven't seen an actual pic of the bed and someone mentioned on another thread that may have a bunk bed? That might even be better as sis could jump up to top. My biggest concern is DM she is 77 and has a lot of aches and pains so want her to be comfortable. Anyone have any first hand knowledge of an A3 on the Pearl? I am leery of taking what I hear from an NCL employee as that info. can very from one to another.

Thanks for all the responses, mum has booked a cabin on her own as we couldnt get a bigger cabin. Now we have the problem that we have all the benefits of both suite and courtyard and mum is only in a balcony, do we have to sacrifice all that to keep mum happy by spending our time with her. Deciscions deciscions.

You could always escort her up to your villa and she can spend time with you there but apparently she couldn't share the courtyard. I have heard also that if you want some of the perks such as priority embarkation/disembarkation/tender tickets and maybe even joining you for breakfast/lunch in Cagney's that you could see what the Concierge can do for you. Depending on whats going on if they can do it for you.

Hope you have a great cruise!

Hi

The second bedroom has a lower fixed bed that will be good for mum, a bit wider than a twin. Then there is a bunk that folds up against the wall during the day and the room steward puts down and makes up for you at night. It is only half above the lower bed since it is on the other wall (90 degrees if you can picture it). It is a typicall narrow bunky.

IMO it sounds like it will work?

Cheers.

I am on this cruise.

Mum can come up to your cabin and enjoy that, you can have b,fast, lunch delivered for all three of you there, the butlers will bring extra treats as well if you ask, so shortage of space in the living room for 3.

Adding mum to your dinner reservations is not a problem.

Courtyard access will be frowned upon.

Now what you need to do is all check in together in the Suites line,

Chat to the concierge and explain the situation, express the desire for mum to be able to accompany you to Cagnies for bfast and lunch if it is not too busy, not a certainty since there may be a full quota with cabins and VIP's but you may be offered that option which is part way there.

Cagnies is normaly open for lunch first day so worth getting there for around 11:00-11:30 and you will be first on after the GV if they are there.

HI

Hmmm, my experience is that depending on how much the courtyard gets used it shouldn't be much trouble using the courtyard with your mum, esp if you are sitting together. Some of the loungers are doubles so no one will mind if shes on one of those with you.

It might be tricky having meals served there (it is a differant menu in the courtyard) but no one will care if you were to bring food up and eat in the CY, the tables are for 3 and 4 anyhow. And quite frankly a small tip to the CY steward (who is not in the tip pool) will likely get her served as well. Quite frankly (wow thats a lot of quite franklie's!! lol) you are even allowed to order double meals so in doing that you could get away with it as well.

The only fly in the ointment would be a complaint from another cabin passanger but I think that is unlikely. IMO.

Cheers!
