Quenby Posted May 12, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2009 Is it better to sit on the left or the right side when I board the White Pass Scenic Railray in Skagway?
CruznMooses Posted May 12, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2009 I would say the Fireman side of the train... Opps that would be the left side of the train as you are sitting in the seat facing the front of the train.
Putterdude Posted May 12, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 12, 2009 You want to be on the left side going up to the summit and the right side coming down. You will also find that there will be opportunities to step out on the platform between the cars for fresh air and photo-ops.
mr green Posted May 12, 2009 #4 Share Posted May 12, 2009 IF you take the front seats left, the chances are that you will maintain that side coming down. Tis is because on the trains return the passengers are told to switch sides. Unless things have changed this seat has no couple to switch with, so you will return on the good side. john
Putterdude Posted May 12, 2009 #5 Share Posted May 12, 2009 That is correct because the restroom tends to be on the right side front.

Is this true for every car or just the very front one?
Putterdude Posted May 12, 2009 #7 Share Posted May 12, 2009 I suppose they can reverse some of the cars but the ones I have seen that is where it is. So at the summit when they have you flip the seats over and trade places with the folks on the other side of the car....well there is no one to trade with.:)

canadarocks Posted May 12, 2009 #9 Share Posted May 12, 2009 So here's what I'm thinking: the front seats on the left hand side in the very last car, IF there's a restroom on the right side.....best seats and still have the option of going out to the platform for fresh air and views! Yes?? 77skidoo Posted May 12, 2009 #10 Share Posted May 12, 2009 Is that the south side?
Putterdude Posted May 12, 2009 #11 Share Posted May 12, 2009 Good heavens "YES" dont you know that it is 12:45 am in Ontario.:) The platforms are available on all cars but obviously the last car will have the unobstructed view. However now everyone knows that so there will be a huge crush for those seats. The other tihing is that WP does blank out some cars for tours .... I am not saying that last cars will be reserved but be aware.
