LA area hotel - Inn at Venice Beach - any info or feedback?

To our LA area experts - flying into LAX in the evening, but next flight isn't until the next day at 4pm (to tahiti for Princess Cruise). TA suggested the Inn at Venice Beach - give me a chance to check things out in the morning before heading back to LAX.

Wondering if our LAX could give me some feedback on the hotel - relatively safe area? relatively clean hotel?

Any and all feedback appreciated.

Thanks,

CG

I am sure the hotel is just fine. You can read about it (and any other hotel) at http://www.tripadvisor.com

However Venice is different. If you want to tell your friends back in Peoria about how weird Californians are then, for sure, go stay in Venice. Think Bohemian lifestyle area with all of the colorful (ie weird-o) characters around.

Rent some roller skates or a bicycles and ride up and down the strand along the beach. Now that's the best unadvertised tour that you will have on this trip.

Well you came to the right place, considering I'm the LA area hotel expert!:D

First of all, just click this thread/link here:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=12754774

You can see my own personal pictures of the hotel, as well as my report, and info of what there is to do in the area...

Another one very close by, that I like as well if not slightly better is

The Jamaica Bay Inn

so click this thread/link here:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=679886

for my personal pictures and info about that hotel.

For my final suggestion, you can make things even easier (if that is a goal) at the Foghorn Inn here:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=13581085

Not quite as nice as the other two (it's an older California Surf hotel that has recently been refurbished nicely)...

But it has a bonus of a free LAX shuttle to and from the hotel.

All of those are good, for different reasons.

Check out all those threads and pictures.

Let me know if that helps, and/or if you have any more specific questions on the hotels.

:D
