Help us with travel problems.

As always, when you run into a problem, the quickest way to take care of it on ship(or anywhere in the world) is to let someone know.....hopefully the right person on your first try.......so they can try to fix the problem. Unfortunately passengers do not know who that person is........Maybe some of the more seasoned passengers could tell some of the problems they have come across and what or where they went to solve them.

We once had baggage brought to our room that looked like it went through a shredder.........we went straight to the purser desk, they made out a report and we received compensation as soon as we arrived home......nothing was in the bag that we could not have made the trip without (Thank God)

Have you had other situations while on ship or in ports? Please tell us how you solved them.

For most problems, you can go to or call the Passenger Services Desk to report the problem. If you do have a problem, make a note of who you spoke to and the day/time, what they said, and what the result was. If you do not get satisfaction within a reasonable period of time, go to the Captain's Circle Host and ask them to help you. If it's a dining problem, the person you would talk to is the Maitre D'. There will sometimes be issues that can't be resolved quickly or easily but these two sources are your main ones while onboard for most issues. If the issue is serious enough, document, document, document and then report it to Princess upon your return.

The main thing is - if you have a problem while on board, solve it while on board. Keep going up the chain of command until you've exhausted all resources. Once you leave the ship it's VERY difficult to sort out anything that happened on the ship. And coming to cruise critic and complaining about it, when you did nothing on board, is a waste of time.

I sent 3 pair of pants to be dry cleaned and they washed and dried them. Needless to say after major shrinkage they were unwearable. (Golden Princess; 2007). The PSD immediately paid me $120 in cash; no questions asked.

Onboard the NCL Star we found a chair that was in horrible disrepair and a badly stained carpet.

I called our Steward and I asked him to replace the chair and to please have the carpet cleaned while we ate our lunch.

When we arrived back to our cabin (2 hours later).....waahlah! All was taken care of!

Your cabin Steward does not have to solve the problem but he/she knows the short cuts to calling the correct person to get it done!
