El san juan hotel

I won this hotel on Priceline a few months ago and ever since then I have been reading terrible, I mean terrible reviews on Trip Advisor.

Has anyone stayed recently and if so can you tell me about your stay?

I am almost tempted to book another room and forget the money spent. I don't want to start our cruise off with a bad experience.:(

thanks

I have not stayed at this hotel but you cannot go by reviews all the time

everyone's opinion is different

how long are you going to be there - you are not in your room that long with sight seeing and being at the pool and beach

we are staying at the intercontinental in October 2009 that we won on priceline also.

did you read reviews on other sites

also depends on how many nights you are booked for and how much

We stayed at the El San Juan Hotel & Casino before our cruise on 5/5. I also won it on Priceline and debated purchasing another room elsewhere after reading reviews. I figured it was one night, so I would take the chance.

I was not impressed with the hotel. The room was outdated and not as clean as I would have liked. I will say that I am particular about hotel rooms. Someone else might have thought it fine. The bathroom left lots to be desired. Tiles in the shower were old and didn't look very clean. DH found dust and a hair on a glass in the bathroom. The grounds for the hotel were nice enough. Pool looked fine. We went straight to the beach area, that was ok. I probably wouldn't stay there again. There are so many other places that people rave about on here.

If you do stay there, I would call ahead and request a recently renovated room. I forgot to do that . Maybe it would help.

Thanks Karen.

I have read that the recently renovated rooms are not much better.

Was it totally disgusting or could it be tolerated? I don't see how Priceline can promote this as a resort!

Was it OK for one night or should I go elsewhere?

Sorry for all the questions.:o

No problem...I completely understand. I'd probably say it was tolerable for the one night, but if I had the choice again, I would go elsewhere.

Good luck. Have a GREAT cruise.

We stayed at El Convento right in OSJ for a precruise stay. It is a "boutique european" style hotel so not a resort - however it does have a shuttle/privileges at a sister resort in condando (not sure as we didnt take it up)

Full of charm and first class all the way. I like being right in town and we could walk to great restaurants, bars, stores, forts etc. Taxi was easy to port. If you want something a little different I highly recommend.
