Willie T Posted August 14, 2009 #251 Share Posted August 14, 2009 Back on track yesterday. Yah me. I even drank water like a good girl. Not as much as I should probably, but more then I had been. Food and eating are a habit, I want to try to make the right food, in the right amounts a habit, not just a diet. But truthfully, I over eat if something tastes good. Certain taste or texture, like crunchy, and I'll eat till I'am way over full. I don't know how a person changes a 59 year eating habit. And then there are all the "food issues" we grew up with, you know, it was used as a reward when your good, on the flip side, no going out to play till the plate was cleaned. In our family, it was used as a kind of tranquilizer on rough days, if things were weird, Mom took us kids to Arctic Circle for burgers and a drive. I could go on and on how food was used at our house, it gets confusing when you think about it. Is it a friend or enemy? Depends on the day right? Party? Gotta have a big spread! Holiday? The same thing. Then it all switches around come Monday! Food is bad! No wonder we all keep getting round. LOL It's a wonder we're not all locked up! Or is it just me? Ok enough playing the head Doctor game. It will never change I guess, just gotta keep trying.
magandab Posted August 14, 2009 #252 Share Posted August 14, 2009 You are so right! It's one thing to want to just eat what we need, healthy, right amounts all that; but another to drop all the baggage surrounding food we've had for a lifetime. My issue right now is getting over the image in my head that doesn't match the image in the mirror. For instance, I reached my goal, and decided I looked GREAT. Okay, not model gorgeous or anything, but felt good in my skin. So, why a few weeks down the road, does that same weight look HUGE????? I need someone to take some photos of me. For some reason, what I see in a photo is far more accurate than what I see in a mirror. Anyone else up to playing "the doctor is in - 5 cents"??? rabbit72 Posted August 15, 2009 #253 Share Posted August 15, 2009 I agree, I feel that I have done pretty good and get told that I look good but when I look at myself I see a person who didn't lose too much. I just hope when I reach my goal it will be satisfying and I wont get all crazed and think I need to lose more. I like how you are having talks with yourselves. Barb, you need to talk to us no matter if you are losing or not, thats what we are here for. We're all in this together, right? Gaye, you are too funny. You kicked your ass! LOL I can see why you enjoy cruising to Mexico, there are some gorgeous places there. I hope you all enjoy your weekend, I am heading up north to Milwaukee, WI for the weekend for Irish Fest....yes lot's of beer drinking, I'm sure.:p Keep cool if you're getting any kind of heat like we are ...90's. rabbit72 Posted August 18, 2009 #255 Share Posted August 18, 2009 Hello ladies, I survived my weekend of having a very good time!;) I was in a rush this a.m. and didn't weigh myself so I will do it tomorrow a.m. I am pretty sure that I didn't lose this week. As I said before, I was going to an Irish fest and well me being 100% Irish I had to consume some beverages!:p Hope everyone that is left had a wonderful weekend and has some good news. I look forward to hearing about it. Brenda
Willie T Posted August 18, 2009 #256 Share Posted August 18, 2009 Hey Brenda. I had an ex husband who was Irish. No explanation needed. LOL Weighed yesterday. No change. Same old story. Dh has to fast for 3 days next week for the dreaded colon test. (way too long of a word to spell) I thought about doing it too, if I can.(not the test, the fasting part) At least until I can't. It might jar me lose and get me losing again. Having that big fish fry tomorrow evening. Tons of people and food and tequila. What are the odds of me just having a salad? Everyone is bringing things, deep fried and grilled halibut, salmon, and King crab legs. Shrimp/mac salad, coleslaw, baked beans, corn on the cob. And these people call themselves friends! I have very good self control, but come on! And it's going to be about 104. Our house is small, so this will be outside. I guess I'll just put the hose nozzle on mist and bungee cord it to something out there. Talk about red necks. LOL On a cruising note, my DD and SIL upgrade us to a our first balcony! The best gift ever! I sure don't want to be on it asking myself..."Does this balcony make my butt look big?"
rabbit72 Posted August 19, 2009 #257 Share Posted August 19, 2009 Gaye, you are too funny! Congrats on the balcony. You do realize once you have a balcony you will never want an oceanview or inside room again. They are wonderful to have. I weighed myself this a.m. and well I gained 1/2 lb. I guess thats not too bad considering the amount of beer I drank over the weekend and it's that time of the month. I don't have many more crazy weekends planned so it should be ok. So you are having a fish fry at your house mid week, huh? Maybe you can stick with the grilled foods and avoid the fried??? Good luck with that!;) Hope everyone is being successful! Enjoy the rest of your week. Brenda
Willie T Posted August 19, 2009 #258 Share Posted August 19, 2009 Yes, middle of the week thing. There are people coming from Alaska for a wedding Sat. going home Sun. It's my co-worker/friend/part time bartender at Willies/cruising buddy's family. I have met them a few years ago....on our group cruise! My friends house has too many big dogs, so we are doing it here. Plus a lot of our friends here are invited too. Should be lots of fun, but sure going to be hot! The couple from Alaska will suffer I think. Oh well, that's what the Tequila is for. Have a great hump day all.
bardstowntraveller Posted August 19, 2009 #259 Share Posted August 19, 2009 We got home from our cruise last night. I stepped on the scales this morning and had gained 4 lbs in two weeks. I don't feel too bad about this because I really didn't watch what I was eating at all. I had a 1.2 lb cushion pre-cruise so only need to lose 2.8 lbs to be back at goal weight. We had a great time on our cruise. The weather was perfect, the ports were interesting and the ship was beautiful. We are already talking about taking another cruise next year. chloepants Posted August 19, 2009 #260 Share Posted August 19, 2009 Just got back from a few days off. It was a baaaaaad weekend. We celebrated two birthdays, two anniversaries, and an engagement. Tons of food. Almost no exercise. Should I be proud that I didn't gain? I'm going to go back to the aerobics videos I think. I'm getting off track and my deadline is looming! Meanwhile all of DH's pants are falling off his butt. He told me that he needs a new bathingsuit (he just bought new ones this summer) because he is having trouble keeping them up. Grrr! rabbit72 Posted August 19, 2009 #261 Share Posted August 19, 2009 Terri, welcome back!! You did very good. I'm glad you had a good time, I know the feeling of talking about another one the minute you get back. You said the ports were interesting?? Were you not impressed? I know how you feel with all the goings on during the summer, but you didn't gain!!! Good luck with your Tequilla party!!!!!
magandab Posted August 20, 2009 #262 Share Posted August 20, 2009 Got back from a quick overnight to Laughlin for work. Stayed at one of the casino hotels where they seem to specialize in massive quantitites of really inferior food. Tonight's dinner was a banana blueberry smoothie and I feel ever so much better. Will weigh tomorrow to see what effect that dreck had on the bottom line. BTW, my bloodwork came out fine, according to the doctor, so I'm apparently just not eating all that much. rabbit72 Posted August 20, 2009 #263 Share Posted August 20, 2009 Amy, thats great news about your bloodwork! You need to eat a bit more! I can't believe I just said that on here. lol Brenda
bardstowntraveller Posted August 20, 2009 #264 Share Posted August 20, 2009 Terri, welcome back!! You did very good. I'm glad you had a good time, I know the feeling of talking about another one the minute you get back. You said the ports were interesting?? Were you not impressed? No, the ports were great -- I meant interesting in a good sense. We loved Turkey and Greece. Good news -- I stepped on the scales this morning and was 1.2 lbs lighter. Hope to be back down to goal weight by the end of the month
Willie T Posted August 20, 2009 #265 Share Posted August 20, 2009 Terri, is'nt cruising the best? Better get signed up for next time! I totally blew off the whole diet thing yesterday. I'll just pretend it never happened.
rabbit72 Posted August 21, 2009 #266 Share Posted August 21, 2009 Gaye, well how can you have all of that at your house and not enjoy it yourself! There is always tomorrow. Terri, Glad the ports were interesting in a good way. I heard that Greece is absolutely beautiful. Maybe someday I'll get there. I just can't wait until our cruise. I have a dinner/reunion with grade school friends this Saturday, so I will have to be on my best behavor! After last weekend, this one should be a breeze. brenda
Willie T Posted August 22, 2009 #267 Share Posted August 22, 2009 Ok, ok I'am fine now. Back on the old food wagon. Man that was good food the other night though. I hate my friends! They are all such good cooks! So, does anyone have anything fun planned for the week end? I have nothing! And this week end, that's fun. LOL There is an estate sale up the road I might go to this morning, other then that, just hanging at home doing the usual Sat. thing. My DD is going to get our hotel booked. Cruise time is coming up fast!
Willie T Posted August 25, 2009 #268 Share Posted August 25, 2009 What? AM I the only one still here because I have'nt reached my goal? Everyone else did, and left? Oh well...what the heck. "Good morning Gaye" "Good morning" "How are things going?" "Oh fine, still trying to lose that last 20 you know, down 1 already" "Good! Keep it up. Your cute clothes are waiting" "Thank you, I will. Have a good day Gaye" "You too"
magandab Posted August 25, 2009 #269 Share Posted August 25, 2009 I'm still here too. Reading every day. I think all the boards have slowed a bit. Maybe everyone's ship has sailed? Maintaining a nice weight now, and trying to figure out what to pack. I'm leaving in 9 days!!!! Yikes.
rabbit72 Posted August 26, 2009 #270 Share Posted August 26, 2009 I'm still here!!! GOOD MORNING GAYE!!!! Sorry about that, I was having some computer issues and now I'm good again. I weighed myself and happy to report a 1/2 lb lighter. It's going slow but atleast it's going. Gaye, I'm glad to hear youre back on the track, your friends are like mine with the good food. Amy, good to hear youre maintaining as well :) The boards have become very quiet now. As you said maybe everyone has sailed. Our trips are actually coming up very fast now. We leave Chicago in 38 days!!!! So, I have another bad situation coming up this weekend. We are going camping overnight to Wisconsin and going to a Jimmy Buffett concert. If you dont know what happenes at these, it's an all day party before the concert so that means eating a bunch of crap and drinking! I guess I will just have to do it :-) Have a good rest of the week.:) Brenda
Willie T Posted August 26, 2009 #271 Share Posted August 26, 2009 9 days?! OMG! How can you stand it? I am at 60 and getting totally crazy already. And you don't know what your packing yet? Hey girl, you just got a new body, take it all! So now I'll know you busy getting ready to go, and will understand when days go by, and it's just me here, talking to myself. :You are going to have sooooo much fun! Willie T Posted September 1, 2009 #273 Share Posted September 1, 2009 Well Brenda, I think it's just you and me. And your going to be gone soon (woohoo) so I'll be all alone. I seem to have got caught up in life and sorta blew off eating to lose. I have maintained, but I only have 54 days left before my cruise, so need to get on it! Plus, I'am doing this not just for vacation, but for all the time. COME ON GAYE! Have so much fun on your cruise you can't stand yourself.:p:p:p
magandab Posted September 1, 2009 #274 Share Posted September 1, 2009 I'm still here too! We fly out on Thursday! Yikes, that's only two days away. Think I should pack? I've lost a total of 25 pounds, so can enjoy eating on the ship. I"m hoping my self control holds a little bit so I can still wear my new clothes by the end of the cruise. I have today and tomorrow off work, to get ready. Funny how those days to get ready filled up. One dog to the vet this morning, dryer repair guy coming this afternoon, last haircut tomorrow morning. I'll be making a few dishes for DH to eat while I'm away (yes, he's terribly spoiled, and yes, he's well worth it).
magandab Posted September 1, 2009 #275 Share Posted September 1, 2009 You can do it Gaye! How much have you lost total? I"m sure it's in here somewhere, but I'm too lazy to look. Hee hee.
