rabbit72 Posted September 2, 2009 #276 Share Posted September 2, 2009 YEAH!!! There are 3 of us left. Amy, girl you better start packing, although I am the same way, usually do it the day before leaving. Where are you sailing to? Gaye, I have about a month before we leave but I am like you. I am doing this for more then just the cruise. The cruise was a great excuse though to get me started. I am staying at 20lbs and can't seem to get beyond that point. I guess I need to change up my routine a little. It will be harder to do once weather gets colder. So, keep it up, we can stick to this, look how good we have done already.:D AMY, have an absolutely fabulous time. Safe travels and eat what you want to enjoy yourself. Come back to talk to us when you get back, I'd like to hear about your trip. Take care. Brenda
Willie T Posted September 2, 2009 #277 Share Posted September 2, 2009 Geez Brenda, we are sisters! I have lost 20 too. Except some days it's 22 or even 23, but then back up to only 20 lost. And like you, I feel like it will be better when cooler weather gets here. Just toooo hot to move much. Amy, you get to cruise without the DH? Ok, now I'am really jealous. LOL And get packed! I would be panic city! Of course I start waaaay to early.
Willie T Posted September 2, 2009 #278 Share Posted September 2, 2009 Amy, how are you doing with the smoke in your area?
magandab Posted September 2, 2009 #279 Share Posted September 2, 2009 OMG, flying out tomorrow! It seems it was just 60+ days away. The other good thing is that means summer is winding down. So ready for Fall. Brenda, we fly to Venice for a 12 day Med cruise. We fly home from Barcelona. I am planning to come back here, it's where my friends are! Plus, I'll need to lose a few, I'm sure. Gaye, the smoke backed off quite a bit yesterday. It was really choking, and snowing ashes before that. Lots of big clouds from the tropical storm coming up the coast and that really helped the firefiighters. Yes, I generally cruise with my mom, who just celebrated her 81st last month. DH has no interest at all in going overseas and neither of us enjoys tropical climates particularly. Now, Alaska, we'll definitely do that again. I can't believe my countown clock, 1 day, 14 hours! And yes, packing is well underway.
Willie T Posted September 6, 2009 #280 Share Posted September 6, 2009 Just keeping this thread on page one. I am all alone here.:( Keeping motivated though. Not moving much, but eating right.
rabbit72 Posted September 6, 2009 #281 Share Posted September 6, 2009 Gaye, Now you know I wouldn't leave you! We are the only ones left until Amy come back. I will continue to come back on here after my cruise or we can just exchange emails that way we dont have to go thru this long thread. I am feeling pretty good about my goal so far. I think I will reach my new goal that I set for the end of the year. I know I will reach my goal that I set for the cruise. I am going to do a little shopping this afternoon for myself, I received some gift cards for my b-day and was holding off to buy clothes but I am at the point where I need to buy a few things because my pants look too big on me even with a belt. Enjoy the rest of the weekend and have a good holiday tomorrow. We had our bbq yesterday and I did pretty good considering.;) I probably will wait until Tuesday to come back and check on you. Willie T Posted September 7, 2009 #282 Share Posted September 7, 2009 Thanks for sticking with me Brenda.LOL You are doing soooo good. Wish I could say the same. Kinda back sliding a little. Yesterday BBQ was not good for me. Fun day, but way too much good food. I am an over eater. If it tastes good, eat it. Plus I've been drinking way too much beer this whole summer. It's a social thing for me, and summers are very social. Not gaining, thank heavens, but not losing either. This week I hope is better.
chloepants Posted September 8, 2009 #283 Share Posted September 8, 2009 I'm still here too. I know, I'm a terrible poster. I'm having serious trouble staying motivated. Not with the exercise - I've been really good about that - but with the eating. I've rediscovered the "Caribbean Workout". I don't know if any of you are familiar with it. I used to do it back in the late 90's and I lost quite a bit of weight, but then it wasn't available on any tv stations that I got. It's back on OLN now and I've been doing an hour workout each day. Last week I worked out every day and didn't lose a thing. Then Friday night I decided to blow it off, ate hamburgers, corn on the cob, ice cream and chips. Weighed myself the next day and I'd lost 4 pounds. Crazy! This weekend we did quite a bit of gardening and took the dog hiking, but also ate a ton of garbage food at the drive in. I know I'm slooooooowly losing the weight but I also know I can do better. I'm 67 days out and I'd like to lose another 20 pounds. It's going to take some serious discipline. Congratulations to you all for the success so far. Keep it up!
rabbit72 Posted September 9, 2009 #284 Share Posted September 9, 2009 Hi girls, Gaye, that is what a holiday weekend means.....BBQ!!! I did my own share of drinking as well this summer. Happy to say I did weigh myself this week and down 1lb but thats ok with me. I was stuck on the 20lb mark for a little while and now this put me over that so I am pretty satisfied. I leave 3 weeks from Saturday so I decided to try on some things last night, I should be ok with what I have but if this keeps up, I will need new clothes for next year :-)! Girls, keep focused! You aren't gaining Gaye so that is very good considering you think you have been drinking alot of beer and such. I have never heard of the Caribbean diet??? I am 4lbs shy of the goal I set in May but I am hoping to reach 30lbs! Have a good week. Brenda
chloepants Posted September 9, 2009 #285 Share Posted September 9, 2009 Sorry, I should have clarified. The "Caribbean Workout" is an exercise show. Mostly high and low impact aerobics with some yoga, weight-training and muscle-conditioning thrown in. Every day is a different workout so it doesn't get boring. Willie T Posted September 9, 2009 #286 Share Posted September 9, 2009 You girls rock! If you can do it, so can I! Got weighed yesterday, just to punish myself I guess, but I had lost 2 pounds! Yippee! Nothing motivates me like seeing that damn scale move! I did great the rest of the day. Even remembered to drink water. I know I'am not likely to reach my goal by cruise time, but I will reach it. Oh well, all the clothes I can't wear now will still be like new next summer. Would'nt it be nice to diet, then when you reach your goal, eat normal? Being older, and pretty lazy, this will never happen for me. My whole life is a diet! (but I'am a great cheater!) rabbit72 Posted September 10, 2009 #287 Share Posted September 10, 2009 WAY TO GO GAYE!!!! See, you can do it! We can all do it and we are proving we can. Thanks Barb, I wasn't exactly sure what you were talking about. Brenda

rabbit72 Posted September 14, 2009 #289 Share Posted September 14, 2009 Hey there, Hope you all had a great weekend. My weekend was very good, went to see my favorite band of all time ...U2. So, my summer has basically ended this weekend. I weighed myself this am and down another 1lb so I have 2lbs for my goal in 19 days!!! I think I can do it! Hope everyone else is good. chloepants Posted September 14, 2009 #290 Share Posted September 14, 2009 I didn't have a good weekend. I pinched a nerve in my lower back on Thursday (while working out - damn exercise!) and haven't been able to work out since. I'm having a terrible time just sitting in my chair at work. Sitting hurts, standing hurts, walking hurts. I wonder if my boss would let me lie on my desk and work? ;) I've decided to forego dinner this week to make up for not being able to exercise. I'm pretty sure I can do it for 5 days.
rabbit72 Posted September 15, 2009 #291 Share Posted September 15, 2009 Ouch! Barb, you poor thing. You must be miserable. I have never had any back injuries but I can just imagine. Is there anything you can do? I guess some good muscle relaxers, huh? Were you trying a new exercise? Hope you feel better soon. Gaye???? Where are you????? Willie T Posted September 16, 2009 #292 Share Posted September 16, 2009 There are people here?!!!! Ya! Sorry about your back, man that hurts. Just ask your boss nice, with a grimace and a tear. How could he say no to lying on the desk? Good idea to skip dinner, or just a little snack. I know the "nutrition police" will hate us for talking like that. Brenda, way to go! Maybe keep that 2 pounds on so you stay here with us.:o LOL No way, off it comes. Sta;ying the same, flirt with that same 3 lbs. here one day, gone the next, over and over. rabbit72 Posted September 18, 2009 #294 Share Posted September 18, 2009 Gaye, I know how you feel when its boring at work. I work in an office full of mainly women who you know all have some kind of snacks in their desks. I have been behaving though. Gaye, I would love to hold on to the 2lbs but I think I'll get rid of them incase I have them return while on the ship!!! Barb, I hope you are feeling better. chloepants Posted September 18, 2009 #295 Share Posted September 18, 2009 Well, I can now sit in a chair without constantly moving around trying to get comfortable. And I can walk without being hunched over. Thank you for the well wishes. Went to a chiropractor and a massage therapist. After the first appointment I felt worse but it is slowly getting better. One good side effect is that it hurt too much to go to the kitchen for food so I didn't snack. Plus I got to spend several days snuggling with my dog and reading a book. magandab Posted September 19, 2009 #296 Share Posted September 19, 2009 My body got back late Wed night, or rather early Thursday morning, and my brain is slowly catching up. Because of rain in Atlanta our 5.5 hour layover turned into 9 hours. Finally got to bed at 3 a.m. For some reason my feet and ankles really swelled up on that trip home so I didn't weigh until yesterday and was a little under 6 pounds up. I think there is still a bit of edema I'm dealing with, but I'm sure there is a good 5 pound gain. I'm more or less back on better eating, for one thing I'm just sick of food! LOL It was a great trip and I'll post more later. For now, working through the piles of laundry and taking naps.
Willie T Posted September 19, 2009 #297 Share Posted September 19, 2009 Amy, your back! Sucks about the long trip home and swelling like a balloon. Did you have a good time? I go in 36 days!
Drew's Wife Posted September 19, 2009 #298 Share Posted September 19, 2009 I didn't have a good weekend. I haven't posted here in awhile but I've been reading the post everyday. Sorry to hear about your back.. Wanted to share a little something. I haven't been able to exercise for a couple of months now because of such severe pain. Started in my lower front and hip...they did CT scan...(had to drink that vile stuff) no results, then was sent to a surgeon as they swore I had appendicitis! He said no, he had no idea but he would gladly go in and look around! I was out the door! So a couple of weeks later I'm worse than ever. My Dr. saw me that day and sent me for an MRI STAT. Turns out that I have two herniated disc in my back....Could not beleive the pain. We were going to WDW this past week, so he had me come in and gave me a shot of "Toradol"! Worked to relieve the pain within a couple of hours! This is the first time I have been pain free in almost three months! Also, I now know what the problem is. Plan to have another shot next week, before we leave for our cruise. I figure at some point I may have to have surgery, but hopefully this will take care of the problem and keep it from getting worse for awhile. Also, now that I'm not hurting, I plan to get back to the gym...maybe lose a little in the next ten days. I've lost eight pounds with the Bontril, so I figure if I can continue that and finally get some exercise...I'll be on my way to getting rid of this excess weight! Hope your feeling better...and "Hi' to everyone on this thread!:)
Willie T Posted September 20, 2009 #299 Share Posted September 20, 2009 Drew's wife, how awful to be in pain for months. I can not imagine. What a relief to finally feel good. Should you go to the gym? Would'nt that inflame it more, so when the shot wears off its worse? My DH has the same thing, but not quite as painful. He does hurt all the time, but still able to funtion for the most part. He does have to sit in his computer chair a lot, as an easy chair is not so easy for him. And walking a long ways is just out. Hope everyone is having a nice SUnday. How ya doing there Amy? Get all rested up yet?

Actually if I go to the gym, I will only swim, sauna, steam room and the elliptical thingy. I really miss the gym...Acutally Drew and I met at the gym...both gym rats. I was working at the gym and he was always there, so our interest of that brought us together. I finally had to give up the weightlifting after breaking so many bones. It's amaizing what a mere five years can do to the body!:D I have a picture that I keep on my fridge of me in a two piece swimsuit five years ago.....but I could wear it then. I had always loved the definition in my arms, abs and legs...but that is no more.:( I keep thinking if I can ever get back to the weightlifting like I once did, I might be able to regain a portion of that body! Who am I trying to kid? I'm getting to close to my sixth decade to ever do that again...but I would like to get in shape, not only to look better, but to feel better. Once you stop working out, it is just so hard to get motivated, especially if you are in pain. I can honestly say, that I haven't felt this good in three months. Whatever this "TORADOL" is, it works wonders. This is the first time in a month that I have gone to Church without having to take a pain pill and muscle relaxant just to be able to sit through Church. It felt good! I felt like singing and worshiping today!:) \ I have an appointment with my Rheumatologist tomorrow...(fibromyalgia) I always thought that was just a farce...but it is real and so painful. So now I'm going to tell him that he needs to just give me the Toradol. I tell you between the surgeons, the specialist and all the doctors...my primary care doctor is the one that found the problem! I have to go back to see him Tuesday as he wants to just check me out...plan to get another shot before we cruise...I'm looking to dance the evening away with Drew!:) Getting excited, I want to start packing now...but it's still too early. Still have my list of things to pack so that I don't forget anything. I hope your husband feels better. I can sympathize! Everyone have a great afternoon.
