Redeeming RCI Visa points

Recommended Posts

I just got a coupon for 5,000 Royal Points which I want to use for a $50 onboard cridt. I can't understand the terms so I called RCI Visa and was told just use it like cash on the ship but she wasn't sure what I could buy or where to redeem it. I am currently on hold with RCI but no one seems to be able to interpret the russian/japanese interpretation in terms of agreement. Anyone know what I need to do?

We actually received 2 of these recently both our TA and the instructions on back of certificate tell you to complete the requested information on the back of the certificate and mail to the RCI office listed. They must receive it no later than 10 days before sailing. From what I have been told by our TA and MBNA bank, who Visa is through. RCI will then apply whatever amount credit onto your SeaPass card by end of cruise. Hope that helps.

Thank you so much. From what I read on the back it seemed like I was supposed to do this before final payment but that was not for the onboard credit.

No problem, I was confused too, but my trusty TA explained how it works very well so hope I did too. Happy Cruising!!!

FYI, I cashed in 5 of these for onboard credit. Mailed them in per the instructions (did keep copies, just in case) and the credit showed up as expected on my seapass acct. for my recent Brilliance cruise.

Mabinbklyn-

So the way I read your post, you can cash in points for several $50 onboard cruise credits and use all of them on the same cruise? I will have enough points for several of them myself, but in reading the card's terms and conditions, I can't make heads or tails out of whether they can be combined or not. Thanks.

Until we sail the Jewel of the Seas .... maybe

JandD Mom- Yes, you can use more than one $50 voucher on a trip. I mailed in 2 $50 vouchers on our last trip and had a $100 shipboard credit that showed up on our account a couple of days after we boarded. However, I believe (not 100% positive) that for 15,000 points you can get $150 off your cruise not just the shipboard credit. Once you've requested your $50 vouchers, they need to be used in 6 months so don't request them too early. And as somebody mentioned, be sure and make a copy of your vouchers before mailing them to RoyalCaribbean.

We have 7 of them already for our Sept cruise, and are hoping to get a couple more before we have to mail them in. Plan to pay off final payment a little early since with 5 of us traveling, plus insurance, and double points since it's RCI stuff, that itself should make another certificate.

I think our payment is due July 2nd, but our CC statements are around the 23rd of each month, so will pay final payment by June 20th or so (2 weeks early), so it will appear on that statement and hopefully have enough time (2 1/2 months) to get the last certificate and mail it in 10 days prior.

Also the above poster was correct that 15,000 points was $150 off the cruise, but our agent didn't know how to apply that (or if they would), so seemed easier to just get the $50 on board credits. With 5 of us on a 9 day cruise, tips alone will total more than we've already accumulated with our 7 certificates!

I need a question answered on this topic. How do you get the $50 vouchers once you have enough points?

I just mailed back my certificates. Does anyone know how I can check to make sure that the credits will applied to my Shipboard account? I would like to make sure everything is ok before we leave. Thanks.

Tmmull: I assume your Visa is also through MBNA bank, if so, call their 800# on their website and tell them you are calling to redeem your RCI award points, they will take you through the process and answer any questions you have.

To rest of this board- I too would like to know how to check on this, we leave for our cruise in 37 days, want to make sure what I mailed last week has arrived and been credited before we leave also. Thanks to all

I requested to redeem them and in about 2 weeks received the certificate. This seems so much more confusing that it needs to be. Why can't you just call them and do the transaction over the phone rather than through the mail?! I was on the phone over an hour and a half and spoke to 4 different people who had no idea what to do or how.

I also just got icruise Visa so I'll see if that's any easier.
