scubagirrl Posted May 31, 2009 #26 Share Posted May 31, 2009 We were at the Wyndham last October and it was very nice, but we only paid $15 pp. This did not include the buffet, but we had just ate a huge breakfast on the ship. We did order some snacks and drinks by the pool. Does anyone know if they still offer the $15 pass? Also, why are they closing? We will be there the end of October again. Thanks! At the moment there is no $15 day pass. They implemented this new pass because cruisers were not spending any money at the bars and restaurants and were bringing their own food and drink.. just using the property and leaving their garbage behind. The hotels are in business.. They are closing due to the economy. Last season, this time, the occupancy rate was down below 20%.. so in anticipation, they asked their staff to take their vacations and plan for the closure. During this time they will do their scheduled maintenance and reopen early October. RUI is closing the same time and will reopen in time for xmas. Other caribbean and bahamian hotels and venues are planning to do the same.
travlingrlclt Posted May 31, 2009 #27 Share Posted May 31, 2009 How much would a 2 year old be? Would we have to pay $40 for him or is he free? We plan on being there this weekend.

scubagirrl Posted June 4, 2009 #30 Share Posted June 4, 2009 can you snorkel there? Sheraton next door has some minor snorkeling by the rocks.. I wouldn't consider it good. your wyndham pass allows you to use the sheraton as well.

grneyedgirl Posted June 5, 2009 #33 Share Posted June 5, 2009 scubaggirl, can you help me? I am a bit confused... In Freeport, the Westin is next to the Sheraton and the Wyndham is separate, right? And in Nassau, the Wyndham is next to the Sheraton? I think I am confusing myself!! LOL Do you know if there is parasailing in Nassau? I looked on bestonbahamas.com but it only pulled up parasailing in Freeport. Thanks, again, for all of the time you spend trying to help us out. I truly appreciate it! In freeport.. the two hotels are not sister properties.. only in nassau As for parasailing. It's done independently. On Cable Beach.. near Breezes (you can walk there from the wyndam/sheraton).. and on Cabbage Beach near the RIU. Just ask the jet ski vendors. Even the ones on sheraton beach may be able to call them in. They usually have a "connection". It's really about being in the right place at the right time. I believe the price runs between $80 - $100.
PHreuD69 Posted June 6, 2009 #35 Share Posted June 6, 2009 If we get a day room at the Sheraton, can we also use the Wyndham? I emailed the Sheraton and the customer service rep was very explicit in saying that the day room covered amenities EXCLUSIVELY at the Sheraton (this was in response to a question about being able to use the Wyndham as well). Can anyone clarify? We'd rather book through the Sheraton, because the day pass of $100 is much better financially than the $40/person pass at the Wyndham (we are a family of 5). Schplinky Posted June 6, 2009 #36 Share Posted June 6, 2009 Does the day rate at the Sheraton include the use of a room? I presumed it was just the use of the facilities.
Astep@atime Posted June 7, 2009 #37 Share Posted June 7, 2009 Does the day rate at the Sheraton include the use of a room? I presumed it was just the use of the facilities. Yes, it does. We had a day room at the Sheraton just last week. You get the use of a standard hotel room. We went over in street clothes, changed into swimsuits in our room, hung out at the beach, ate lunch at the outside restaurant, played in the pools, then went to the room, showered, and went back into town. It was a good day. But a couple of things stopped it from being a great day - I was blown away at food and drink prices at the lunch place. $3.50 for sodas, $12 sandwiches. typical for a resort hotel I guess. If you want to eat, the Wyndham may be the better deal - just have to do the math. - It took us 35 minutes to check in. Was frustrating just standing in line in the lobby, waiting, watching the precious time we had tick away. it was people inline in front of us that took so long, our check just took a few minutes. Bad luck - The beach was just okay. I guess after the amazing beaches in Tortola, Antigua, and St. Thomas, I wasn't blown away by the cleanliness of the beach. Still, we enjoyed it. Sabiney Posted June 7, 2009 #38 Share Posted June 7, 2009 wyndham is closed from August 17th to October 5th 2009. The Sheraton, next door, will be open.. right now their day room is $99. no word if there will be a day pass for less during that time. This is their off season.. and some hotels are closing.. and restaurants will have rotating schedules. Sorry to hear that the Wyndham will be closed. Do you feel that the Sheraton is the next best choice? Are there any comparable alternatives to the Wyndham, other than Atlantis that you could recommend? Thanks for your help! Jsme Posted June 9, 2009 #40 Share Posted June 9, 2009 Wyndham is the one with the pool which is the one my daughter has mentioned going to. Scubagirl, it does not close until August 17? We will be there sometime the week of the 10th. I am really unsure what we will want to do and just am starting to do some research. I did it a while back but have forgotten a lot. lol Can't I take the #10 Jitney (sp) there? Where do I find this bus? If we decide to go to Paradise Island. We can take the water taxi for $3 pp. What all is fun to do over there? I have toured the Atlantis but do not see doing more than going to look around in the free areas. Where is a good to go and see on PI? We have been to Nassau many times but normally just get off for lunch and go back to enjoy the ship without all the passengers. We have done tours of the island, dolphin and stingray swims. Just trying to think of something else to do with DD.
Astep@atime Posted June 9, 2009 #41 Share Posted June 9, 2009 I was curious as to whether or not you had access to the Wyndham pools? Also do you know if either of the pools are heated? Thanks The main pool (there are 3) at the Sheraton seemed to be heated. It was almost too warm -not refreshingingly cool. I didn't get in the other two pools, but I think I rememberr my son saying they were "cold". I don't know about the Wyndham's pool.

mommyloons2009 Posted June 15, 2009 #43 Share Posted June 15, 2009 I was wondering if anyone knew if you could use your credit card at the Wyndman for the Day Pass? Just trying to figure out how much cash I will really need.

mattt6511 Posted July 21, 2009 #50 Share Posted July 21, 2009 Has anyone else noticed the price of excursions skyrocketing these past few years, i really thought with the economy they would of been dropping. I still remember my first cruise in the 90's the average excursion cost around 20 dollars or so and the more expensive ones we like 60 to 70, now they are out of controll, im not cheap by any means i just think if you have a family and want to get a day pass at somethin like atlantis its out of controll........
