CintiPam Posted May 28, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2009 Last cruise, from Istanbul, with an overnight in Istanbul on board, the lifeboat drill was held at 5 PM on day 2, five hours before sailaway. Next Friday, June 5, from Athens, we sail at 8 PM (no overnight in port first). So when is the lifeboat drill held? We are trying to decide when to get to the ship that afternoon with Friday Athenian commuters, vacationers and others looking to board ferries, crazy Athens rush hour traffic issues, etc. Thanks again for any opinions. drwong Posted May 28, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2009 I think ours was held around 3 or 4 pm before sailaway, just before the dinner hour. Several parties hadn't made it aboard by that time, but the crew attendants made note of that on their clipboards and probably gave them individualized instructions soon after they boarded. Don't worry if you're stuck in traffic - the crew wil make sure you get the proper directions (they're probably familiar with Athens traffic by now). BlewWater Posted May 28, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 28, 2009 On our recent Athens to Istanbul cruise on Nautica, the life boat drill was at 5:15pm on Day 2. The ship had a 6:00pm departure from Piraeus/Athens that day.
