Warning - Spam and CC NCL Boards.

I had posted this before and new it would be deleted since I included the name of the travel outlet that clearly had harvested my email address from the CC NCL boards.

 

The email address below my singature is only used here and 99.9% of my posts are on the NCL boards. Out of the blue I start to get spam from a travel outlet with cruise deals.

 

Why share this?

 

First for the newbies never post your primary email address here or anywhere in a public forum. Sooner or later you will have to retire it. Keep in mind targeted emails sent to your address with normal formate can and will pass through many spam filters.

 

Second and most important for the oulet that sent the spam I wanted to share the fact that I never opened the mesage and even if you had the best deal in the market I would not book it.

Good advice. Posting your email address in a public forum is like writing your phone number on the wall in a public restroom.

 

It is easy to set up a different email account for public postings. I have one that I check once or twice a week, and it is almost always entirely spam. It's easy to delete the entire contents and of course I never read the email.

 

Another trick is to make the email readable to a person but not to a robot that harvests email from the internet. Just spell out the @ sign and the . with words like this: myaddress at hotmail dot com.
