This question may have been answered, but I have not gone through all of the pages. If I am a "right" bettor on a 5$ table with 3-4-5 odds, and always take maximum odds, and occationally take some come bets with full odds, whats a good bankroll? Will $200 let me play for a little while, or would I need some more? I am leaving on the norwegian dawn on superbowl Sunday. I am hoping those are the odds for the tables in there for I heard it in some other forum.

"A little while" is very vague? If the table is warm then you can expect to play for "awhile" I guess. (1 plus hours). However, a cold table will eat away at your money real fast. If 1 hour isn't enough play time, bump it up to an even $500. Good luck.

You have to play what you are comfortable playing with, start slowly and build your bankroll, do not use money you are not prepared to lose.

And the best tip I got from a craps dealer is, "once you lay the money on the table, it is no longer yours and you are trying to get it back".

Hello and welcome to the new casino section.

Now for the answers to your questions.

Initially you make a come bet by placing money in the large COME box. The player must place the bet in the box. Once the point is rolled then the DEALER will move the bet up to the newly established COME POINT. It is then you will take odds. All you need to do is drop your chips near you and tell the dealer that you wish to take odds on your come point.

If you are referring to getting your money back after making a COME bet and taking odds. COME bets are exactly like pass line bets. You CANNOT remove a COME bet. You can remove your odds bet though. Just a note, you can REMOVE Don't Pass bets once the point is established at anytime though.

If you wish to remove your odds on a COME Point, just ask the dealer to remove your odds off of it. They will bring it down and give it back to ya. Good luck!

I like playing craps a lot. I have never played come bets though and now I finally get it. So my question is Are come bets a good idea and if so is it good to add odds and if so how much? :D

cheers,

Paddy Anne

Paddy Anne..take the MOST come bets odds the casino (or your bankroll) allows. The odds are the only bet in the casino where the house has NO advantage. Good Luck

Great... how do I do that:)

The same exact way you would for a pass line bet, except you put your chips on the table in front of you and tell the dealer to take odds on your come point. He or she will place the pet for ya. Simple as that.

IMO COME bets are a good idea if the table is HOT. They work just the same as the PASS line. However, the downside is it takes one roll to get the number from the COME onto a number, another roll of the number again to win. Take full odds on the COME bet the same as the PASS line. I was playing PASS LINE and at least two COME bets.

I changed my play from COME bets on a cold table to just placing numbers because as soon as I had a couple working, the random shooters would 7 out. Also, you lose your base bet on a 7 come out roll, but you get the odds back. So with a couple of COME bets on the table, everyone except me is rooting for a 7 on the come out roll. But as they say, last COME gets some, so you win with a bet in the COME and a 7 is thrown.

Since I set the dice, now I only play COME bets when I'm shooting.

ok I am getting closer to full understanding. but...

1- Do you wait till the point is on before placing a come bet?

2- HOw many come bets should you place.

3- How is it you get your odds back. Do you always get them back? Are the odds the same as for the points in that you back them up with different amounts for the 6 and 8.

4-If the point is rolled should you take your come bets off?

thanks for all you help. I am getting very excited about the cruise.

cheers,

Paddy Anne

Place the mininum the casino allows (usually $5) on the table where it says COME. After the very NEXT Roll if 2-3-12 shows you lose...the dealer takes your bet. If 7 or 11 shows you win and you will be paid even money...$5 for $5. If 4-5-6-8-9-10 shows the dealer will take your money from the COME area and put in the number area on the layout. Once he does this make your odds bet by placing the money on the table & telling the dealer "odds on my come bet". He will take your chip(s) and place them on an inverted angle. The number (let's say it was 10 with $5/come & $5/odds) has to repeat for you to win. If the 10 repeats you will be paid $15....Even money-$5 for the original come bet & $10 for your odds which are paid @ TRUE odds of 2:1. The true odds are 2:1 for the 4/10, 3:2 for the 5/9 and 6:5 for the 6/8. When placing odds on the 5 and/or 9, always bet EVEN odds to receive the proper 3:2 payoff...regarding this remember the old crap saying "if it ends in E (FivE or ninE) keep it even. Good luck.

If the number you get onto as the result of a COME bet wins, the dealer will take it down and return it with your winnings. If you consistently play COME bets, the dealer might automatically divert part of your winnings back onto the COME area (makes a new bet for you) if you want so you start the process all over again or just take your bet and winnings back completely.

If you have a COME bet pending and the same number hits that you already have a COME bet on, the dealer will leave it there and return your winnings since you went back up again on the same number.

I would only play a couple of COME bets but you could continue until all the numbers are covered. 4,5,6,8,9,10

A big thank you to LSTEFFA and Cruzincurt. I am so understanding it now and very excited to try it. I LOVE those odds.

Is the max allowed on come bet usually the same as the pass line. ie 2x or 3x?

cheers,

Paddy Anne

The maximum allowed odds for come bets is the same as for the pass line bet. If you can afford it, always take maximum odds allowed.

Some casinos, NCL for example, allow 3x 4x 5x odds. That is 3 times odds on the four and ten, four times odds on the five and nine, and five times odds on the six and eight.

Personally, I go all the way with come bets, so if the shooter makes all the numbers, I will have the pass line and five come bets working.

Another thing I do is have my odds working on the come out roll. Normally, odds are off on the come out roll, unless you call them on, which I always do.

WOw so you keep putting up come bets and high odds. YOu must have a huge amount of money on the table. I dont think I can afford that. :)

But you also will have a huge amount of money in your rack from winning. When you hit a come bet winner on a number a have another bet in the come bet area it's called "OFF & ON".. you are paid for the first come bet and STILL have the same come number covered *& come bet. Nothing SWEETER than a REPEATER....(maybe a three peather...four peather ETC.

Curious, if the seven rolls on the come out and you lose your come & odds bets, have you ever paid to keep all your come bets up? This is known as a PUT bet.

Must be great! Do you put money on the numbers too or just on the come bets?

Place a 6 and/or 8 in $6 increments since the place bet pays 7:6. Also make a come bet....Let's say $5. If the 6 or 8 hits you are due $7 and your come bet moves to the six or eight, tell the dealer "Down with odds"..he will take $5 from your winnings for odds and return to you $2 from your original place win. You can place the 4-5-9-10 in similar way but the place odds on these numbers give the house much too high of an advantage. Stick to placing only the 6 and/or eight and come bets.

No, put bets are bad bets, and I never make bad bets.

Well, the only time I make a bad bet is when I bet hardways for the dealers. I usually do this when all the come bets are covered.

I use Put bets in a 20X odds game....you don't have to repeat to collect as you do with a regular come bet. They only make good sense in a high free-odds game (20X) where the come-out flat bet is really irrelevant to the total bet.

That makes sense. I have never played where more than 5x odds are allowed.

Hi Paddy Anne,

I too am a novice learning this game and have gained good insight from these boards. Another good tool I've used is the practice area of bodog dot com. An excellent play money area to get a feel for the game at your own pace.

I have a question about tipping. Say I put down a $5 pass line bet for myself and a $5 pass line bet for the dealer. A point is established and I take full odds on my pass line bet. Can I also take the dealers tip odds as well? So if the point hits the dealer gets $10 total and I get my bet and odds plus the dealers odds? Is that something that is done or not? I know the dealers are happy to get any tips so I would not think it would be a problem.
