Hi folks - just stumbled into this new section of the forums - its great to see that craps was the first discussion!

I like to play place bets with progressions and sorry Yo Eleven, while I'm probably not so much a "precision shooter" I'm a "Dice Influencer" for sure! But hey- You wanna bet the don'ts, just tell me! I'll set for the don'ts and we'll make money together! woo hoo!!!!

are there any other precision shooters, D.I.'s or dice setters lurking about? How about it?

Hey DeckSwabber. Welcome to the new section. Most folks will tell you precision shooting is a bunch of BS. But, I gotta tell you although it is not foolproof it definitely extends the time that a seven is thrown. Craps dealers will tell you by making the shooter bounce the dice off the pyramids this eliminates the dice control. I think it only minimizes it.

As for dice setting. Waste of time. Just throw them and roll a seven. :D

Not me - I just pick 'em up and toss 'em. But I defend everyone's right to do anything they please as long as it doesn't violate the rules or ge the boxman (box person??) pissed.

Andy, you have to get your DW to play craps.

This morning I talked about it with her. She's willing to give it a try as long as I teach her enough so she won't freeze in a panic at the table. It will also depend on the measurements of the table: she can not stand and uses a scooter in the casino. So, if she can still see and reach over the rail from her seated height, and can position the scooter so it "doesn't block three people" (her words), then we'll give it a go!!

That will be great if she can play. The scooter may not be high enough unfortunately. I am certain the casino would allow a tall bar stool for her. She will have no problem. To prevent a panic attack. Simply play the table minimum (usually 10 dollars a bet) and bet on the pass line. At the most after a number becomes a point take odds. Then just wait. Sorta like fishing. Good luck and get her in the game. :D

Like anything, it takes practice. I set the 3's in a Vee, and toss high to land just where the backboard meets the table. Sometimes I start tossing too high and the boxman warns me about it. They don't like their eyes taken up away from the table. You can find the 3's quickly as they are opposite side from the 4's, a trick a dealer taught me.;)

I stand on the right side of the stickman and throw to the left. Some will say it's baloney, but having long throws says otherwise. Then again, there are lucky people that pick'em up, and throw for a long time.

If the casino gives these coupons and allows them to be played this way, bet hard. Sooner or later they will take this chance away. As long as green does not show up you will be a winner each time. I love this type of mistake. I will bet the max they allow, until they pull the promotion. A great way to make some big money using one of there offers and there is nothing close to cheating about it.

Cheater! :D

Matchplays can come in different denominations. When Hooter's opened they offered $25.00 matchplay. They could be found all over the floor. Bet $25 on red and $25 on black and leave green open. Everytime the dice were rolled a $25.00 profit was made for doing nothing. Lasted for a few hours until management changed the promo. Wynn had it set up for new card players that after collecting x numbers of points you could change them in for free buffets. Around a $40.00 value for each buffet. You could go over to the roulette machine. Paying the red/black combo, you could in a matter of minutes have enough points for the free buffets. This is hoping the green does not show up or it becomes an expensive buffet but alas this opportunity has also gone.

OK gang...question. How do you feel about come bets w/odds? I get the pass line w/odds, which I like, and I understand the come bets. I'm curious about betting the odds w/the come bet. I've been practicing on bodog.com, (fun, and I am holding my own) but would like some advice from you pros! :)

Obviously, I'm new to craps...gearing up for our cruise on the Freedom of the Seas in 2 weeks. I'm hoping to feel comfortable at the craps table, and have fun!

Come bet backed with odds is the same as a pass line with odds, just playing a separate number. Come bet without odds would be a wasted bet to hope to get just even money on the next roll, why not just pick a number straight out.

That's how I play, pass line with odds, two come bets with odds. Easy to keep track of where my bets are in the number box, and the dealers know my play routine. I just like that particular action. Then there's always last come gets some.

I also play come with odds, but in my case I don't limit the number of bets - you can get as high as five come plus your pass bet - six on a comeout roll but remember odds are off on the comeout..

As for place bets, if you aren't making the come bets (which when you add the odds have the least house edge of all), the 6 and 8 are best of the group, getting worse as you go to the more "outside" numbers. The edge on 4 and 10 is so high that you're better off with a buy bet (though that means you have to bet in units of 20 dollars).

I'd stick with the come/odds. As much action as the place, but at a smaller house edge.

Wouldn't your chances of winning be increased if you had a don't pass line with odds, and two don't come bets with odds? :D

Thanks cruzincurt! :D That's exactly what I've been doing during my practice sessions on bodog.com' date=' and it's seems to be a good strategy. I need to stop second guessing myself, but as a newbie...

Another question...how do you feel about place bets?[/quote']

That is a good bet. Better than a Big 6 or Big 8 bet!

Probably, but I don't like the dark side, I'd rather root for players to make their numbers. That dark side bet would be kind of insurance. But why bet to break even against yourself? That's like playing red and black at the same time in roulette. Or betting an alternate bet so that if you lose, you don't lose everything.

I don't do place bets, or any others. That's just how I play. And it's been good to me, as I watch others come and go out broke.

Oh no I wasn't suggesting you play both right and wrong at the same time. That would be silly.

Yeah the problem with playing the dark side is you are against the other players but something about having a SEVEN rolled and being paid on EVERY number at the SAME TIME has a nice feeling to it. :D

Newbe question

When you make your come bets with odds, after the role they take your money and put it on the rolled number correct?

Ok Lets say you hit a couple times you can turn off that bet (place bets also) correct ?

Can at any time you just ask the for the money back money or do you have to lose it once it is on the table?

If you can take it back is there terminology for that?

If you hit a come bet you get paid and you no longer have that bet unless you had another come bet. You would then get paid on existing come bet (off and on) and continue having that number as bet. You can take your odds back at anytime on a come bet but that would be stupid once the bet is established.

Hello and welcome to the new casino section.

Now for the answers to your questions.

Initially you make a come bet by placing money in the large COME box. The player must place the bet in the box. Once the point is rolled then the DEALER will move the bet up to the newly established COME POINT. It is then you will take odds. All you need to do is drop your chips near you and tell the dealer that you wish to take odds on your come point.

If you are referring to getting your money back after making a COME bet and taking odds. COME bets are exactly like pass line bets. You CANNOT remove a COME bet. You can remove your odds bet though. Just a note, you can REMOVE Don't Pass bets once the point is established at anytime though.

If you wish to remove your odds on a COME Point, just ask the dealer to remove your odds off of it. They will bring it down and give it back to ya. Good luck!

Thanks

So unlike a place bet if a come bet wins you get paid and all the money come's back to you including your original bet??

Ok then, On a place bet can you ever just take your money back.

The reason I'm asking while watching I see people hit a place bet then hit again (nice) feel like a 7 is coming can I get my place bet back or does it play till I lose.

Yes, a winning COME bet is EXACTLY like a winning Pass Line bet. Once you win, that bet gets paid and all money comes back to you including the original bet.

A place bet can be removed, increased, reduced, or called off at anytime. Therefore, if you think a seven is coming you can just tell them your place bets are not working. They won't take it down, but mark it not in play. But remember, if you want them active again you must tell the dealer you want them working now.

Good luck!

Yo thanks for the info

I went to Vegas a few years ago, took a beginner lesson. they showed a lot about hard way and things. I had no real idea what I was doing when I played that night. I just played pass bets with no odds.

, When it was my turn to roll I rolled for a while, like 45 minutes. Anyhow long story short. I made a lot more money from other players throwing me tips than I made myself. (by a long shot) finally trying to learn the game, enjoying this post.
