Putterdude Posted June 15, 2010 #76 Share Posted June 15, 2010 Well as much as we would love to have you come a day early, the Amtrak train during the summer tends to be very punctual and even if there was a problem Seattle is not more that 3 hrs from Vancouver so there would be alternatives in the unlikely event of a break down. Sure but I was thinking more about getting to the ship later than normal with the travel and que times...
Putterdude Posted June 15, 2010 #78 Share Posted June 15, 2010 With the train arriving in Vancouver at 11:40 am you will have the best part of 4 hours to get over to Canada Place which is only 10 minutes away by cab and then get aboard. You should have no trouble at all. I should probably add that with you not traveling until 2011 we will not know the schedule at Canada Place until late Feb or ealry March, 2011 but even then you should not have a problem.. kath00 Posted June 16, 2010 #79 Share Posted June 16, 2010 We took the train to Vancouver a few years back and arrived the day of the cruise. It was no problem at all. The train got in on time and the cab ride was over before we knew it. We were on board, checked in, with food in our bellies by around 1:15! SeattleCruiselover Posted June 16, 2010 #80 Share Posted June 16, 2010 On Sunday Sep. 19, 2010, the Port Schedule shows 3 ships already booked for Canada Place (Celebrity Mercury on CP East, Ryndaam on CP North and Statendaam on CP West) -- our cruise on the Norwegian Pearl, as well as another cruise on the Rotterdam, are listed as TBA. Is it likely we'll end up at Ballantyne? Is that normally a less busy pier? Or are the lineups the same or worse? Pearl, I have been told, is the one that is likely to end up at Ballantyne this year. It will be the only ship there, and there will, thus, be a lot less people to contend with at both embarkation for you and disembarkation for the previous cruise. We're coming in a bit more than a week later on Star, and are likely to be about the only ship at CP since it will be the first weekend of October. Putterdude Posted June 16, 2010 #81 Share Posted June 16, 2010 Vancouver's port schedule shows both the Rotterdam and the Pearl going to Ballantyne Pier that day. The Pearl is shown as arrivng from Victoria at 8 am and the Rotterdam at the usual 7:00. This will be about, if not the only time, this pier is used this year so it could be a crush particularly with 3 ships at Canada Place.
