I need help from you ES experts out there!!

Recommended Posts

Ok, here is the problem....

I booked and paid in full for the Fantasy leaving out of New Orleans on 8/31 using the Early Saver. It was a better deal (according to my PVP) than the military rate. I just looked at another site that shows military rates. It's showing the military rate to be $65 less than what I paid.

Will I be able to get OBC for the difference between what I paid and the military rate??

I'm pretty sure that if the rate you found is legit that they will honor the difference. Fill out the online form. I just got off of the phone with a customer service specialist about my adjustment and he went out of his way to find me any additional money he could.

Yes you can price match military rates with ES. If they have your info on file it will be easy. If not you need to call your PVP and arrange to have your info faxed or emailed into them, then they can process any military matches.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but ES price match is only for Carnival advertised rates.

If Carnival is not offering that military rate, you may be out of luck.

• What is the price protection assurance feature?

If, after booking, you find a lower Carnival advertised fare, Carnival will honor it, issuing the difference in the form of a non-refundable onboard credit. The lower fare must be: i) for the same ship, sailing, stateroom category and number of guests; ii) available for booking at the time you submit your request for the lower rate; and iii) a rate you are eligible to receive, if special restrictions apply. Price protection will be subject to the prevailing fees and/or fuel supplement if applicable.

No one can advertise cheaper rates, so if the OP is seeing a military rate on another site, its probably the rate on the Carnival site, except that regular folks cant get to the military rate on the carnival site, doesnt mean its not a carnival rate though.

Yeah, I understand. I just wanted OP to understand that she needs to verify the Carnival military rate.

Thanks for the responses. I will be calling my PVP on Monday since he was out today. Honestly, if we get the discount it would be nice, but if not, I am not going to be too upset. We are paying less on this 5 day than we did for a 4 day 2 years ago. By booking ES I have gotten one price drop and an upgrade!

The site I looked at is a legit site (and fairly well known). Also, when I have checked prices, they are right in line with Carnival.

After seeing the Military Rate drop again, I called Carnival's 800 number. I was cut off due to bad weather after I explained everything to the woman who answered the phone. She called back later and told me they had given me the military discount (a total of $86 in OBC). I am not sure if we are still under the ES or if we are now considered MR, but either way I am happy!

To date, I have received over $120 in cruise discount (either OBC or lowering the amount due) AND an upgrade!! :D

You are still under ES, so keep checking for those price drops. Check every promotion for which you are eligible (past guest, resident, etc.). If you see a lower rate, fill out the ES lower price request form. We started on the lowest deck inside cabin and are now on the highest deck in an OV with $140 OBC. I love ES!!!! Have Fun!

Yay glad it went through, even though you can't see it on the site Carnival will match it because you are eligible for it, just another perk for serving your country. :D

Also as I found out a couple weeks ago, you can price match the Cash Back rate which doesn't seem like one you can get. If the price after you take off the cash back is less then what you are booked at, they will lower your rate to the cash back rate and give you the OBC associated with the special.

For us we were booked at $509, CB rate was $499 + $75 OBC. They lowered our rate to $499 (still ES) and gave us the $75 OBC. Ships almost all sold out except for a few insides, we are OV, so no more drops but we ended up with doing well with the program, even though it didn't go so smoothly.

Originally we were booked at $609pp, we will be sailing at $499pp with $430 OBC, not bad.

I looked at the cash back, but the difference was only $20, so decided to wait and see if there were anymore price drops. Glad I did... lol! We were originally book in a 6A for $319pp. With ES and MR, we are now in a 6B for $255 with $86 in OBC.

Something interesting....

We took this same cruise (except we are doing a 5 day this time versus a 4 day last time) and we are paying $400 LESS! I LOVE Carnival and CC!!

You're sure I am still under ES?? They told me over the phone that they switched me to Military. When I questioned if I was still ES she said no, I was MR now. I think I will be calling my PVP on Monday... lol.

You are still ES, I can verify that. Whenever they add a new code, it shows the new code but they can go back and see the original code you booked under. When I got stockholder's credit, apparantly that is a code that now shows on my booking, so my PVP had to go and check I was ES (she didnt remember).

Once ES, you will always be ES bottom line.

No price drops for us,but we booked 6d ov on Fascination through es in the spring for 319.00. That same cabin is now 539.00,so I think we did okay!

You did great! Thats the way it is usually with this cruise out of New Orleans. My PVP says that "normally" you can't get last minute deals becuase they are usually sold out. Not sure if its the economy or the swine flu, but there seem to be a lot of cabins still available on our cruise in August and the price keeps dropping!

How soon do you hear back after filling out the form? I just checked and our cruise dropped $50 per person. We booked ES and so I filled out the form and now I'm waiting. Just wanted to know how long it takes...

Thanks,

Gayle

I have been VERY lucky. The first time I filed the form, I had a reduction within 3 days. This time, due to the military rate, I called and they did it (we got disconnected, but she called me back and let me know she had given me the OBC). Some folks have had problems with the forms and have had to fill out another form and make phone calls.

So, give them a few days at least before filing another form.
