What to do when here for a few hours

We are stopping in from 5:00pm to 11:00pm and wondering what to do.

 

We have been there serveral times and walked to city area.

If is Monday and you see too much ships in the Port, go to Señor Frogs behind the Sheraton Hotel....

 

 

Is like a Carlos and Charley in Aruba and Mexico.

We are also coming to San Juan for just a frew hours and I am wondering how dar Old San Juan is from the peir, and are there some things to see withing walking distance while still daylight?

We are also only going to be here for 6 hours but fortunately it is 2pm-8pm so it is mid day i have been researching walking tours of old san juan my wife and I have never been there so i want to see some of the culture. I bought the Frommers travel book to puerto rico it has a fold out map and very detailed maps out your self guided walking tour. I thought about it as an excursion but then from the help of my fellow board members on here said you can do it on your own so that is what we are doing i hope you guys have fun and Happy New Year

We too, are going to be in SJ from 4-11 pm. Is there a casino nearby that we could get to be cab? I think I read somewhere that the Wyndam is nice. Any other suggestions?

there is a casino right at the sheraton wyndham hotel. It is right off the dock within walking distance. you should see it right when you get off the boat there is a great bar/pub right next door called Senor Frogs too check it out

There are 3-4 cruise ship docks that are adjacent to Old San Juan and are across from the Wyndham hotel/casino. But Celebrity, if going with them, use the docks that are across the water from the old city docks and you'll need a cab ride to get over into Old SJ --- not that expensive, but it is a time nuisance.

 

The walking tour is easily done on your own, no problem. There's a good visitors center at the north(?) end of the old city dock area and you can pick up a map there along with some rum samples and then head into the old city. Some great little restaurants on your tour routes that you can hit as well.

 

Enjoy... we love San Juan.
