Luv4dacruise Posted June 14, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2009 She started the Boston to Bermuda itinerary way back in '94, before she was even acquired by NCL. The past couple of years she has been taken off of that itinerary, but has still gotten to Bermuda every summer from different homeports. Her last visit to Boston will be on 9/1, and i certainly hope something special is going to be going on for the ship that started it all. She was my first cruise under the Majesty cruise lines logo, and my favorite by far. She is a quaint quicky little ship, but is truly a gem in her own style. Majesty, you will be missed :(
Philly Steve Posted June 14, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2009 It's good to hear from a fan of the former Royal Majesty. Remember when she made headlines during the Titanic Cruise (I think that was in '96)? She looked a lot different back then. http://www.simplonpc.co.uk/RoyalMajesty.html We're going to miss Majesty and "classic cruising" in Philly too. :(
*Wink* Posted June 14, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 14, 2009 Thanks for the pics, Steve.. and a nice tribute, Luv4. She's a Gem! We'll miss her in Charleston, as well.
coka Posted June 14, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 14, 2009 I sailed her pre-stretching the late '90's, post stretching in early 2002, and last summer on my first trip to Bermuda. I hope I can age that gracefully and be loved by many. I wonder what her last week with NCL passengers will be like. coka

gcdogwalker Posted June 14, 2009 #9 Share Posted June 14, 2009 That wonderful Majesty will always have a very special place in my heart. I've been on others but she was the first and most special of all.
live2dive45 Posted June 14, 2009 #10 Share Posted June 14, 2009 I'm so glad that I booked Majesty before she heads off to new ventures. If nothing else, it's obvious she has a fiercely loyal following and that's good enough for me!:):)
scchasgal Posted June 14, 2009 #11 Share Posted June 14, 2009 I concur with everyone that she will be missed. I have sailed her three times and it is like visiting an old friend when you sail her.

Remember when she made headlines during the Titanic Cruise (I think that was in '96)? She looked a lot different back then. http://www.simplonpc.co.uk/RoyalMajesty.html We're going to miss Majesty and "classic cruising" in Philly too. :( Yep, this was back in the good old days where the bow door from the Royal Fireworks lounge was open for passenger use during each and every sailaway. And the stairs that run from the promenade deck to the Royal Observatory lounge were passenger use, not crew. The crossroads was 2 decks high and you could always here the dinging of the casino right above. She really was of a higher caliber of class before NCL stretched her, but still a gem all the same. Philly Steve Posted June 15, 2009 #14 Share Posted June 15, 2009 I'll bet the Crossroads section of the ship was an even better place to hang out back then, before the stretch. ;)
tallblonde Posted June 15, 2009 #15 Share Posted June 15, 2009 My husband & I have sailed on the Majesty many times - and always enjoyed! Also, great to hear those that remember cruising on the Majesty when she was owned by Majesty Cruise Lines - we were on the inaugural cruise - still have the commenmorative coin given on the first cruises! We had an interesting cruise - and felt we were in on some inside secret when - after docking - a group boarded and started measuring the bar area we were sitting in - when speaking to one of the men we were told the Majesty was being acquired by NCL. I believe there was also a sister ship - the Crown Majesty - am not sure where that ship ended up - but we enjoyed our subsequent cruises on the Majesty! babyof8 Posted June 15, 2009 #16 Share Posted June 15, 2009 Well we were on her maiden vouyage out of Boston my husband and I and loved her from the start. It was so long ago I can even remember what year although my husband I am sure can. Once we sailed her we neve missed a trip we ususally did every other year but then we got greedy and started doing the sailing once every year. Small but nice we did notice a big change when she start under NCL and was not for the better but as the years have gone on we learned to adjust to NCL and now we love NCL as well. We will miss her but we will still do our trips out of Boston on her replacements. She has been replaced by bigger ships but she will be our true love. middleoneone Posted June 15, 2009 #17 Share Posted June 15, 2009 This post made me run to my travel files. Our very first cruise was on the Royal Majesty in July 1994. We thought it would be a good way to find out if we liked cruising. Needless to say we're hooked thanks to the wonderful experiences on this ship. Thanks for bringing back the memories. VonChap Posted June 15, 2009 #18 Share Posted June 15, 2009 We just returned from the Majesy and the crew was the best that we have had out of seven cruises. Had a nice time and look forward to seeing the crew on other NCL ships.
out_2_sea Posted June 15, 2009 #19 Share Posted June 15, 2009 The Norwegian Majesty will always hold a special place in our hearts as she was the very first ship we cruised on. She took us to Bermuda and that has been the place we visit the most often. We had a wonderful first cruise and our memories will last a lifetime. cruiserssandr Posted June 16, 2009 #21 Share Posted June 16, 2009 The Norwegian Majesty was our first cruise in 2002 and that was enough to get us hooked on cruising. We have cruised on the Majesty 10 times and miss having her here in Boston very much. Best crew. Being able to spend 3 days in St George is a real treat! omajo Posted June 16, 2009 #22 Share Posted June 16, 2009 We also did 5 or 6 Boston/Bermuda cruises and also a repo on "Her Majesty" and agree with you all. She will always be one of our favorites. Farewell "Old Girl"
