wildbriar Posted June 16, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2009 Due to my own stupid mistake I reserved a car rental for the wrong date. Now I find that both Avis and Sourdough are sold out on the date we are in Skagway. What do you think my chances of picking up one on site due to cancellation? I am trying to decide to take the risk or book an excursion, which I was trying to avoid.
Budget Queen Posted June 16, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2009 I would say your chances are slim. Both have a very limited number of cars. And they can't get "more" somewhere. IF you wait for a "no show/cancelation", you are probably going to be waiting until at least 10am, maybe later. I suggest you call them directly and inquire what may be your options. When I was there a couple weeks ago, there were several people in line, looking for cars, and were then running to Sourdough when told they were sold out. Trailblazer99 Posted June 16, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 16, 2009 Without a reservation I had no luck getting one in the morning but cars started to be returned at around noon so we were away by 1:00 or so. We couldn't actually drive, being Canadian, but met some New Zealanders on board who did the paperwork.
