The latest from Meyerwerft's website. If you go to their website (http://www.meyerwerft.de), there is also a route map that the ship will be following.

Ems Conveyance of Celebrity Equinox

Conveyance likely to start on early Saturday morning

Papenburg, 18 June 2009 - The new passenger cruise vessel Celebrity Equinox is likely to leave Meyer Werft early in the morning of Saturday, 20 June 2009 to sail down the river Ems to Eemshaven (Netherlands). The conveyance of the Celebrity Equinox on the river Ems will take place in one go, assisted by the Ems barrier. For more information on the function and operation of the Ems barrier please go to http://www.nlwkn.niedersachsen.de

The Ems conveyance is roughly scheduled as follows:

Saturday, 20 June 2009

Approx. 01.00 am Harbour lock, Papenburg

Approx. 04.00 am Friesenbrücke, Weener

Approx. 06.00 am Jann-Berghaus-Brücke, Leer

Approx. 10.30 am (or 11.00 pm) Passage of Ems barrier, Gandersum

Approx. 02.00 pm Start Test & Trials

(if required 12 h later)

Sunday, 21 June 2009

Approx. 20.00 h Arrival at pier in Eemshaven (NL)

(if required 12 h later)

!! All details are subject to wind and weather conditions and water levels, and can hence not be warranted. Changes to the schedule may occur!

The ship’s departure and passage of the Papenburg lock will be broadcast live on the Internet. Go to the web cam http://www.meyerwerft.de

Also the Celebrity Equinox will sail down the Ems backwards. Conveying the ship in this manner has proven its worth because she is easier to manoeuvre in this way. During the conveyance the ship will be assisted by two tugs.

Hi Everyone !

Equinox left a few hours ago. Many of us watched Equinox depart Papenburg, on the Meyer-Werft Webcam. Hopefully, there will be videos or other slide shows posted around the internet. Equinox is looking fantastic !

You should check out this thread, http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1006852 , where you can get the latest updates from Cruise Critic's Managing Editor, Melissa Baldwin Paloti. Melissa is currently onbord Equinox.

Wow, that's really cool and somewhat strange. I didn't realize she had so far to go backwards, in narrow passageways. I can't wait to be onboard, she looks beautiful! Thanks for the video!

I only remembered that yesterday was the big day later at night, so I missed it. But, oh well, some good videos online now!

Also, this might sound wierd, but does anybody else think that Equinox is actually somehow a little nicer looking than Solstice?

I just think it's because it's brand new. Solstice was absolutely incredible on the TA in April.
