timandnancy Posted June 18, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2009 Can't seem to find any comments online about luggage on the Alilaguna Ferry. Will probably have 2 carry-ons, and 2 or 3 full size bags between the 2 of us. Staying at the Hotel Ala , 10/6 for one night before boarding the Quest. Is the Alilaguna feasible??? clivep Posted June 19, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2009 The Alilaguna line is primarily for airport transfers so they are used to handling hold baggage (the carriage of baggage is included in the fare). The bags are all put together whilst you take a seat.
SonjaWinson Posted June 20, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 20, 2009 Given the amount of luggage you will have with you, have you considered taking a private or a shared water taxi? You can purchase a private or shared taxi voucher in advance with a credit card, just like Alilaguna tickets, from the venicelink web site. After you pick up your bags at the airport, you check in at a desk in the arrivals area, and a staff member takes you to the water taxi dock (less than a ten-minute walk away). I've never been in the Ala Hotel, so I don't know if it has a water entrance where a taxi can drop you off. If it doesn't have a water entrance, then the taxi may drop you off at Trinita (the traghetto dock nearby), which is closer to the hotel than the Alilaguna stop, but still a bit of a walk with at least one bridge to navigate. I believe the shared water taxi tickets are about twice the price of the Alilaguna tickets, but half the price of a private taxi.
