Excursions - when to book?

I know that RCI excursions open up about 120 days out. I'm curious when people usually book private excursions. Do they tend to book up earlier than that? Or do people wait to browse the cruise ships offering before making decisions?

We usually book privately and depending on what it is anywhere from one year to three months in advance.

I normally look to see what is available for different ports through RCCL, but only once have I found it to be less expensive than on our own (paradise point - St. Thomas tram is a few $ less to book through RCCL). Jan

When I called a RCI customer service agent I was told excursions are usually available 14 weeks out (98 days), today's my mark for my October cruise and they are still not available online.

I already booked excursions for my October cruise last week. They have been available for several weeks though. My is the med so not sure if that makes a difference.
