Public Beaches in Cozumel?

Recommended Posts

Take a taxi to Paradise Beach. You can use their beach chairs for free. There is also a resturant and bar (if you want). There are floats, slides, floating "iceburg" climbing walls, floating trampolines all for a fee of $10.00 per person if you want. (worth it). There are enough taxi's available to get back to the ship when you want to. Taxi fare is less than $20.00 round trip per car load (get a van if there are more than three of you). It's a great affordable day!

We have been to Cozumel 4 times; each time at a different beach. We did not like Playa Mia. I did not like the hard plastic chairs that were down on the sand. I am a plus sized person in her 50s. Seeing me getting up from that recliner was not a pretty picture.

Paradise Beach is great. Not all inclusive. Lots of water toys, fabulous food, great drinks. Sandy beach - not good for snorkling. There is a thread on the Cozumel site. But it is crowded! We felt lucky to get 3 chairs together. Not the place to go if you want to "get away from it all".

This time we went to Chankhanaab the National Park. It is enormous--plenty of chairs and space. Christmas week it was like having a private beach experience. It is super for snorkling. Food was good, drinks good, we were entertained by a Mariachi Band while we ate. There is a coupon on website for $2.00 off. Not all inclusive.

Both were wonderful.
