A nice beach in walking distance from the cruise terminal?

Can anyone recommend a nice beach in San Juan that is in walking distance or a short cab ride from the cruise terminal? Just looking to go for a little while and tour OSJ by foot and hit some local watering holes. Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Freddie

Not really walking distance, but by taxi the nearest beaches in order are:

Escambron beach - < 10mins by taxi

Condado Beach - 15-29mins by taxi

Isla Verde Beach - 20-30mins by taxi

Pinones Boardwalk - 30+ mins by taxi

Luquillo Beach - 45-60mins by taxi

above times really depend on how much traffic there is.

Consider Isla Beach area.

Note: don't miss out on Old San Juan if you ahve not been before...

Coqui2007,

Can you tell me if the fort El Morro will be open to walk through to get some pics? We arrive around 5pm on the Carnival Freedom mid August. Can we walk along the waterway with our two boys ages 11 and 15? Is it safe? What other suggestions can you make for us with limited daylight hours. We have never visited San Juan, but we know the boys want to see the fort. Thanks for your help.

That's an odd time to arrive at a port. Does the ship stay overnight?

to any of the beaches in PR... as posted on PR board

Escambron beach - < 10mins by taxi

Pinones Boardwalk - 30+ mins by taxi

Luquillo Beach - 45-60mins by taxi

Has anyone done this.. How many people fit in taxi. What are costs. Do they have services like chair rental? I am really confused about PR. Seems like their beaches are in front of hotels but unless you are staying at one you don't have any options on the beach except for the beach. I would love to find a beach that offered chairs/food/drink etc. We have 16 people and I am wondering if it is going to be to cost prohibitive to all take taxis.. If anyone has info thanks... I am also going to post this on PR board.
