We are arriving at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal on Queen Mary and our American grandchildren are begging to be taken there to see us "come off the big ship". If we can keep in contact by mobile as we are about to go ashore, is it in any way possible for them to be there

Hello Zider,

It might be tough for your grandchildren to see you coming off the ship because the gangways are enclosed. Also once you debark there will be others right on your tail and perhaps not easy to stop for waves.

I would suggest trying to stay in contact with your family the morning you arrive QM2 arrives in Brooklyn, New York. If your family arrives early enough perhaps you might try waving to them from the promenade deck.

Have a great voyage.

Jonathan

They really can't see you actually getting off the ship although you can waive to them in the parking lot or at the end of Wolcott Street....its a safe neighbor hood and they can pick you up after you leave the ship... Yes cell to cell would walk. Once you leave the ship you can be seen momentarily coming down the gangplank but stopping to waive gets the people backed up behind you. You can't use the cell phone one within the terminal again until you leave the customs/immigration area because technically its a secure customs area(I don't know why but that is the rule)after the customs they can see you coming out.

The pictures show the front of the ships(yes I know its two different ships)from Wolcott street and the parking lot- you can see the gangway and the decks....

Take a chance--write to Cunard and ask to have them onboard--it is very rare, but not unheard of...would be especially nice--and easier -- if you are sailing home...or see if you can arrange onboard to have someone bring them to the gangway. Your cell should work just fine. The children can certainly be at the terminal in any event. Have a wonderful visit!!
