cruzinsistas Posted July 11, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 11, 2009 I'll be taking a Royal Caribbean cruise to Alaska next month and have a couple of questions about the wine packages. Is it a good idea to pre-book wine ? Is it cheaper ? How is the wine selection ie does all the good wine go first ? Thanks
scubapro48 Posted July 11, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 11, 2009 You can pre-book the wine package or you can buy it on board. They will have tables set up for this. It is the same price. You do end up saving a few bucks. We usually buy the Platinum package and get our favorite wines that are on that package. You have to study the lists and decide what you like and what is on each package. On our Round the Horn Mariner repo they did run out of our favorite Carmenere, but that was the only time we experienced this.
PennyAgain Posted July 11, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 11, 2009 It's a good deal for my husband who likes wine with dinners, but not for me as I just don't drink enough.

Choozin Croozin Posted July 13, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 13, 2009 I'll be taking a Royal Caribbean cruise to Alaska next month and have a couple of questions about the wine packages. Is it a good idea to pre-book wine ? Is it cheaper ? How is the wine selection ie does all the good wine go first ? Thanks We usually book ours on board. It is something that we use our onboard credit for. If you book it ahead of time you will have to pay for it. We have not had a problem with them not having the wine we like. We usually get the middle package. The nice thing about the wine pkg is it does save you a little money, if you don't finish your bottle at dinner, they will cork the bottle and give you glasses so that you can take it back to your cabin with you. You can also request a bottle to have in your cabin and they will give you a corkscrew and glasses to take with you. So you don't have to drink it ONLY in the dining room. Here is the list of wines (3 packages) for RCCL. http://media.royalcaribbean.com/content/en_US/pdf/SampleWineMenu.pdf They have been the same for the last 3 years (that I know of anyway).
