Micktooth Posted December 22, 2004 #7 Share Posted December 22, 2004 Thanks for the pix. I can't wait till it's my turn! I really feel bad for the people of the Cayman Islands seeing those pix. I live in New Orleans and we who live here are so very lucky that the bad boy missed us!

CruiseCATnMACK Posted December 22, 2004 Author #11 Share Posted December 22, 2004 Can you tell me about Hell- did you do this on your own or through the ship?> The five of us hired a taxi for a tour of the island. The cost was $60 for 1.5 hours.

CruiseCATnMACK Posted December 24, 2004 Author #15 Share Posted December 24, 2004 Cat: I want to know how Tucker did! Thank you so much for asking about Tucker, he did fine with his trainer but there is no place like home. He has his people, his kitties, his woobee...all is right now in Tucker's world. Although we now have a house full of people and I'm not sure he likes all of them...lol ergator - The view of New Orleans was taken from a Geocache. If you have a GPS or are interested in more information check out: http://www.geocaching.com/ Serene - Yes, $60 was the total cost. As for what else we saw....lots of devastation. Of course you probably feel the same about some of them!
luv2cruise123 Posted December 24, 2004 #17 Share Posted December 24, 2004 What time di dyou board and how hectic was it? Do you still have to go to the parking garage if you drive in rather than drop off first at pier? thanks - we leave Jan 2 NEXT Sunday. Can't wait - great to see pics of Sunset Beach and Rose Hall. we're going to both also. Some one had asked about Hell. I know it's the "thing to do" , but it's really just a small painted house with a guy dressed up like the devil and those black rock formations out back. Not much to it IMHO. Once you've been, I doubt you'll want to go AGAIN.

Debbie, I seen you post awhile back that you and your group, if Im not mistaken, were going on the same cruise as us and you had inquired than about a Cruise Critic get together, just wanted to let you know we have a Roll Call for Conquest Jan 2nd, 2005 and set up times for get togethers on the roll call thread, though the times are pretty far up the thread now they are there if your interested. Just was reading this thread when I ran across your post and thought Id pass the info along/// Mike
dosi Posted December 25, 2004 #19 Share Posted December 25, 2004 Hey as I was nosing around your other albums I saw a pic of a cemetary in the geocaching sections. You titled the pic "Creepy". Can you tell me where that is? It kind of reminded me of Bodie only more arid (although I didn't think more arid than Bodie was possible). Happy holidays to you and yours.... :)

ConquestMike Posted December 27, 2004 #22 Share Posted December 27, 2004 Your I'll try to find it over there. By chance, do you remember /know when and where the meeting is to be? Probably only some of my bunch would come, but I'd love to. Your Welcome Debbie, I noticed you posted on the Roll Call thread but if you didnt happen to find the post for meeting times here they are,,(Listed on page 6 of that roll call thread) 3 times are planned so veryone who wants to meet will have a chance,,,the first is a sail away get together immediately after Muster at the Sky Bar which is on the Lido Deck in the aft,,,,second and third are both on the Promende Deck at the Impressions Bar which is near the casino about midship between 930 and 1030 Sunday Night, come when you can in case you have late seating for dinner and another get together on Monday at 3 pm at the Impressions Bar as mentioned,,,Everyone has different plans whether its to be on deck for sail away or being at dinner for early seaters, some want to see the show the first night, others do not, etc etc LOL so I thought having several times was best and would give everyone a chance to meet if they wish without having to miss something they might be planning on doing,,just look, or wear yourself, a piece of left over ribbon from Christmas Gifts on your wrist, this is what we are using to identify each other...Hope to see you, the more the merrier if you ask me LOL at this time next week we will be cruising !!!!! Shangrilq Posted December 27, 2004 #23 Share Posted December 27, 2004 Can you tell me about Hell- did you do this on your own or through the ship?> As far as I am concerned this really was HELL. Nothing there but a vast crazziness in the back and backside of nowhere with a gift shop and bar attached to it?? YIKES! Just a big "commercial" gimmick. It was really HOT as HELL there as we returned on Nov 6th of this year. We found Jamaica a bummer and will stay on the ship if we ever stop there again. Really PUSHY people who want to sell you drugs, women. etc. We really liked Grand Cayman and Cozumel was OK but we have been there 3 times and we don't seem to have the fascination for it that most people do. Ship was nice and we enjoyed everything else. We thought some of the art was not to good until we went on the Celebrity Century and then we quickly learned to appreciate the art that was on the Conquest.(At least it made some sense,LOL) I believe we did this tour thru the ship which we have for the most part found these tours NOT to be worth the money and will from now on get a independent tour when we got off the ship. I remember we went to the turtle farm also and some little "dump" they called a shopping center and I would NOT get off as some others didn't also. Hubby did get off and was back on the bus in less than 10 minutes as they tried to sell him drugs, begged him to buy their product and even tried to get him hooked up with a woman. luv2cruise123 Posted December 27, 2004 #24 Share Posted December 27, 2004 BUT, we are going with an independent operator this time with our group who comes HIGHLY recommended on the ports of call baord here and also going to try out Sunset Beach. It is a beautiful island if you can get past the "bad" pushers. Which is exactly what we intend to do this next week! Conquest Mike, thanks for giving me the times for our CC meetings! I had looked on page 6 and never saw the times. I'll definitely make it to atleast one of them - great idea to have THREE times! ONly one other couple has ever been to a CC party before, but I;ve "referred" others in our group alot to these boards for info on ports, etc. so they are atleast familar with it. Is Carnival doing anything at any of these? It was nice a month ago when on Glaxy for their staff to "meet n greet". they actually had some nice things to say about "us" and acknowledged they DO read these boards. Hi Debbie I couldnt tell you if carnival is doing abything since I am new to these boiards myself and dont know all the tricks LOL I just volunteered to do the research and come up with times and places..I thought having more times was better too after posting a thread here asking people for suggestions and a number said they couldnt make the one single get together planned for various reasons so more is better, I think the Monday get together might, could be wrong, but might be the best one since it is kinda a down time onboard...Besides I didnt see any rules that everyone can only meet once, what if everyone got along great and had a good time, why not more times LOL We booked with Barretts for an independent excursion on Jamaica after reading the horror stories in Jamaica, since it is our first time there I thought it was better to listen to the experienced travelers there,, 6 more days !!!!
