jalakim Posted May 9, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 9, 2004 Well not quite on the Mariner yet. We are at the Radisson at the Port. We found it to be jsut fine. Not at all noisey as some people have reported, and certainly not at all run down. Ther were four of us and we booked a two room suite and split the cost. It was quite the set up. Two King size beds, tow person jacuzzi tub, microwave, fridge, and internet access. 155.00 on expedia. As we went out for breakfast, we could see the ship from here. She looks beautiful. I can't wait. We are hoping to get the cyber room package and if we do I will try to give a daily update and try to answer any questions. jalakim Posted May 9, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted May 9, 2004 Well we are now on board. It is breathtakeing. It makes all other ships in port look miniature. embarkation was quick and painless. Although we were quite early, our rooms were ready although many were not. Lunch was at the Windjammer and it was quite good. There was a great varity of offerings and all were tasty. After a walkaround of the ship we are all done it. We certainly walked off lunch. If this is any indication, we are in for a great week. Like Karen above, interested in what time you were able to board. We'll be driving down and had heard that the parking doesn't open until specific times. jalakim Posted May 9, 2004 Author #8 Share Posted May 9, 2004 Doug here... My first post to the group. We had an Avis van. We dropped off the luggage and four of us at the pier at around 11am. We dropped the van at Avis and took their shuttle back to the pier. That was quick and painless. Back at around 1130. Did the security and check in bit. People were actually still disembarking. We were in line waiting for them to open the door to allow us to board at about 1145. We checked out the purser's desk (Deck 5) to get the internet link.... For the techno dweebs...It's a dial in link to the ship's systems. We're in at about 48K. Sufficieent for what we need. We checked out some of the ship and did the first lunch buffet at the Windjammer. Wow! Lots of food. Some of everything this first day. I'll let Kim descrine that later. Need less to say...I won't be able to pull myself up the rock climbing wall in a day or two. Baggage showed up about 3:30 pm. No issues there. Ice in the bucket in the rrom when we got here. And Antonio, our room steward, just came by to introduce himself. For the alcoholics...we had some booze and soft drinks in our checked baggage that survived and arrived. Off to the muster stations.... More to come. We'll try and give a little blurb everytime we get back to the room. <IMG SRC=http://images.animfactory.com/animations/animals/fish/two_fish_kissing_md_clr.gif>

jalakim Posted May 12, 2004 Author #24 Share Posted May 12, 2004 it just feels like we haven't been back to the room since Sunday!!!! There are not enough hours in the day. Everything is lovely. We were in Coco Cay on Monday. It was very cool and breezy on the ship before we went to the beach, but don't let that deter you. On the island it was very hot, hot, hot. We got a little burnt. The only downside to the island was the bbq. It was not very good. Cold and bland. Not at all indicitive of the food on the ship. Let me tell you that is excellent. We will try to get more pics of the food for you, but we will have to wait to [post them when we get home. Yes tere is still horse races and auctions. There is just about everything you can imagine. My mother in law won 372.00 at bingo. We are just about to go to Jamica. We promise we will get back and tell you more when we get back on board.
