Langham hotel auckland

I have been looking at the Langham Hotel for our 4 day post cruise in Jamuary but read on another site that this hotel is not in a good part of the city. Has anyone stayed at this hotel who can let me know if this is correct. We wanted a really good hotel with WOW factor to finish off the holiday so any suggestions would be great. Many thanks

We stayed there in Jan 2005 for 3 days before our cruise. It had just changed names from the Sheraton to the Langham. It is located at the top of a street (this city is hilly). An easy walk down to the harbor of 15-20 minutes. Remember it as a very nice hotel (but no wow factor like the Hyatt in Sydney our other hotel at the end of the cruise) and we liked the location. It wasn't located in a fashionable or trendy district but we felt safe there. It was just 1/2 block away from the dairy store (similar to a 7/11) where we could have coffee, juice and a hot breakfast of quiches or meat pies and ice cream in the afternoon. This was important as a full American breakfast in Aukland at a hotel will cost around $25 pp or you can get a meat pie, quiche or sausage roll for about $3 each and coffee for around $2.

The hotel also had a fitness center so we do a quick swim, shower and freshen up after our long flight. We had arrived at our hotel around 8am and no rooms were yet available. We had a change of clothes in our carryon luggage so this gave us a quick start to our day.
