Embarkation on Dawn in NYC

Recommended Posts

This is the first thread I've posted to this site! I'm a little nervous - all you CCers are so smart!

My fiancé and I are taking our honeymoon cruise in May (I know, I'm very early in this planning!) and I'd like to already know my way around when we get on the ship. For embarkation in NYC, on what deck do you board?

I'm sure this info is here somewhere, but I can't find it!

Thanks in advance!

I'm not positive of the deck, but I certainly remember being handed a glass of champagne as we boarded! It puts you immediately into vacation mode. Last year (and I'm hoping it's the same now) they had the reservation area for specialty restaurants just a few steps away from the boarding area. My husband and I immediately made reservations at the places we really wanted eat at for that night and the next.

Yes, back when we cruised I believe it was deck 7. The Stardust Theatre was on the right and the lounge where they had the art auctions was to the right when you made a left. Hoping I'm remembering this correctly. :)

Just curious - Why would you be concerned with what deck you board on? I will just be happy to get on the ship! I will have 2 days onboard to find my room...in the meantime I plan to hit every bar on the way there.:D

You board on Deck 7 in to the Atrium. Get to the pier about 11:30 and you will be onboard very soon--you can take a turn to the right when you board and go straight until you get to Dazzles (nightclub/bar) where you can check your carry-ons if your cabin is not ready, which is probable--usually around 2:00.

Then if it is a nice day, we think the best place to start is the Bimini Bar--WAY up over the pool with a great view of the city as you leave--and great burgers up there too. You can also choose the Garden Cafe Cafeteria, or the main dining room for lunch--if you are in a suite, Cagney's is open for lunch for suite passengers.

You ARE a little early !!! But I can imagine your excitement in wanting to know everything right away !! Ask again closer to the date, and we will be able to tell you if construction at the pier is finished--which will affect your parking plans if you are driving. It will cost about 210.00 for the week. Can not think of a nicer ship for a honeymoon!! It has always been our favorite NCL ship--us and many others. For great information on the Dawn, including good cabin pictures, and sample daily activity programs, go to http://www.beyondships.com.

The romance package is a great deal, and Le Bistro the most romantic restaurant--you should treat yourselves to that !! You can purchase it on the NCL website and have it all in place before you leave. Have a wonderful trip--will be looking for you in April with your questions!!

You will love the Dawn. We got to the pier at 11 and were on the ship by 11:45.

As soon as you are on board, drop off any carry on luggage at Dazzles. The Venetian opens at 12:30 for a nice, sit down lunch. Go to the spa and sign up for the raffle. Go to the casino and register for any tournaments and get your Players card. Make your reservations for dinner at the MDR's or signature restaurants. Go to the signature restaurants for free samples. Go to the bar at Salsa's, have a fantastic Margarita (say hi to the barkeep for us, really nice guy) and have some free tapas. Go to your cabin, find your room steward and ask him to empty the mini fridge so you can put your own stuff in it. Bring your bathing suit in your carry on and hit the pool and hot tubs while they are emptier than they will be all week.

Above all, enjoy yourself!
