Whale watching - Victoria

We're going to be in Victoria for a full-day on September 21, and I'm wondering if that's too late in the season for a whale watching trip.

 

Anyone else gone whale watching on one of these September repositioning cruises and had success looking for whales?

Not at all, but dress in many layers. The small boats used for whale watching are quite the adventure, and can be cold if you're not prepared.

You should do well seeing both Orcas and other whales in late September from the Victoria excursions.

 

There is a year round local pod of Orcas that hangs out near Victoria....and the migration route for the bigger species is right past Victoria as they head out for Hawaii and Mexico to mate and give birth.

 

But as Scottbee suggested make sure you wear layers and plan on it being a chilly and often wet adventure....but...it is worth it all to see these magnificent creatures!
