sarahbento Posted July 31, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 31, 2009 I will be traveling with a beer drinker on an upcoming cruise and they want to know if you can order a 6pack to your room with room service or from the bar to take back to your room with you. We are traveling on Freedom of the Seas in September and I want to prepare her for how that works. I don't order beer on board so I can't answer her question. Thanks for any information on the topic. pmshirl Posted July 31, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 31, 2009 I am not a Beer drinker either. I do see people at the pool with a Bucket of beer. Whether you can take them back to your cabin, I doubt it, unless you can sneak it back! I have ordered a drink at a bar and finished it back in my cabin. That is one drink, not a Bucket of beer!:)
nancronin Posted July 31, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 31, 2009 I don't drink beer either but some of our friends have ordered the bucket and brought it back to the cabin with them - they paid for it on the ship so they don't care.:D
PrincesScuba Posted July 31, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 31, 2009 Yes, just tell her that on board, the terminology is "bucket of beer" not "six-pack". If she wants to take it back to her cabin, rather than drink it on deck, she can tell the bartender NOT to open the bottles.
cb at sea Posted July 31, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2009 Yes, as long as you buy it from them, you can take it and drink it anywhere you like (with the exception of bottles of liquor). You can order beer from a bar and take it anywhere.
Skeetercat Posted July 31, 2009 #6 Share Posted July 31, 2009 If you order beer by the bucket, do you get special pricing?? For example, six beers for the price of five??
FireIce0010 Posted July 31, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2009 You do not get a special deal with the buckets. Used to but not anymore and yes you can even order a bucket through room service.
pltag Posted July 31, 2009 #8 Share Posted July 31, 2009 Remember to take a BOTTLE OPENER!! The aluminum bottles sold in the buckets are NOT twist off. We learned to keep one opener in the pool bag and leave one in the cabin! :)
BayStateguppy Posted July 31, 2009 #9 Share Posted July 31, 2009 But I don't think buckets of beer are offered on all ships or at all bars. I tried to order one on the Serenade a few weeks ago and the bartender had never heard of a bucket of beer. None of the other bars offer them either though they at least knew what I was talking about.
Freo Posted July 31, 2009 #10 Share Posted July 31, 2009 >>Remember to take a BOTTLE OPENER!!<< Thank you for the tip, will place said item on the packing list. :) Any draft beer on board the FOS?
lovetocruise75 Posted July 31, 2009 #11 Share Posted July 31, 2009 The buckets are around $25+15% tip
miked998 Posted July 31, 2009 #12 Share Posted July 31, 2009 Remember to take a BOTTLE OPENER!! If your bottle opener has a magnet on it, keep it away from your Seapass. It will erase the magnetic stripe on the card and then you will not be able to enter your room.
