My review of treasure of Asia cruise on Sun Princess 17/6/09

Recommended Posts

Ive never done this before so i hope im not boring.:)

My cruise on the Sun was absolutly gorgeous we left our motel and at the Fremantle Terminal by 10-30am got our luggage in and shown upstairs and time for a coffee and then we were called to check in we waited a short time and by 12-30 we were onboard and shown to our cabin on Plaza Deck 5 and then eating lunch in horizon court by 12-30 what a fantastic easy morning.

When we got back to the cabin our luggage was there and so was William our lovely steward who looked after us well.

We went to the sailaway party where we watched loads of people watching us go waving and flashing their lights we looked at each other we couldnt believe we were on our way.

4 full days at sea and rest from work, plenty of activities on board ship up to date movies in the theatre,Wii games, daily ship games, art auctions, lectures, making cocktails, vegie carvings, basketball court, tennis and golf simulator etc or just having a cappacino listening to the musicions or take your lunch by the pool and a few cocktails.

At night comedy in the Vista lounge, showtime in the princess theatre, disco or kareoke in the nightclub, casino i lost plenty but had fun or listen to Skippy the piano man in the Atrium lounge not forgetting the Wheelhouse bar and my favourite Alan and Ladonna it was our kind of music and she has a great personality and Alan sang Joe cocker songs he was good on the guitar she was as bad as me for shopping my hb took photos of the two of us doing plenty of retail therapy.

We had 3 formal nights,1st one was the champagne waterfall evening and a chance to meet captain and the crew it was wonderful.

Our theme night was an Island night by the pool oh dear 2am bed again.

Plenty of restaurants, fine dining or horizon court buffet, pizza restaurant and steakhouse,or pie and chips from the terrace grill.

Our 1st port was Penang and tendered in we went on the tour bus into georgetown shopping mall, cheap cheap pr of shoes $5 and good ones my husband got plenty of computer games he was wrapped.

No trouble getting tender back to boat.

2nd port was Phuket we docked at the pier and they hold a market at the pier, we got the tour bus to Patong beach for the day it was brilliant when we were there at xmas it was hot ,this time was much better even a downpour but it finished quick we enjoyed a great day with a beer on the beach.

3rd stop docked in Langkawi best duty free port out and beautiful scenery,i love Langkawi good sun tours to different parts of the island.

4th port Port Klang 90 minute drive into KL or a 40 min to nearest shopping mall with everthing in one place a great day out.

5th port Singapore docked and straight off to a full day China Town,Little India, Bugis markets or on one of Suns many tours a great day.

Now heading home 4 days at sea before Tendering to Geraldton we did not get off here as we can go anytime.

Anyone that was on this cruise would know we had 2 rocking days coming home i thought it was fantastic and great to get to sleep on a night.

Arrival back into Fremantle was sad but smooth disembarkation we was off the boat at 9am and thru customs and shown to a taxi by staff an hr later we were at Burswood complex to have an evening with family before the drive home.

So my thoughts on the Sun Princess was excellent, very well looked after, cabin was really nice big enough for the 2 of us not that we spent much time in it we really got into everything.

The staff on board this boat go all out to help you have a good holiday nothing was too much trouble and always had a smile for you.

We met some wonderful crew from around the world.

To say the boat was full you would have not known it i can honestly say i didnt have to wait for anything.

By the way they have reflections and lattitudes both shops to browse with a daily market stall with specials on deck 6 and photo and video gallery on deck 7.

We met some beautiful people on this cruise.

A boat well worth thinking off for your next cruise.

Hi Aussiemin

So glad you had a wonderful time and that you posted your review. When I make my shortlists the Asia cruises never really feature as I thought there were too many sea days but you have got me rethinking. Lots of rest and relaxation - lots of shopping/sightseeing days - lots of rest and relaxation on the way home again. Mmmm better add this one now!!

Thanks again.

Thanks Trish for your great review. Never underestimate yourself.......that was just what I needed to get me over my "wish I was on a cruise right now" blues.

You seem to approach your travels with very much the same frame of mind as us. Have a go at everything and anything that appeals and soak it up.

Glad you had such a terrific time! When is the next one???????

Cheers

so nice to hear that the Sun Princess looked after you well and you had a good time.

At the Island Night did they also do the midnight buffet outside or is that now stopped.

I love the Sun Princess and happy that you did also.

Hi Kaseyoz, Yes Island night was on pool deck what a fantastic night dancing to a great group.

Yes they had an island buffet every fruit you can think of was laid out, fruit tarts cheeses and fruit on sticks, mainly lots and lots of sweet things i went up for a piece off the centrepiece i believe they call it a bombe wow it was yummy even thou it did not go with my drink i tucked in.

Hello Cinnabel not sure when the next one is as i fancy Vietnam,Hong Kong etc on the Sun Princess, right now i have to work ha ha.

We went on the Gemini last xmas as a taster for 8days but the Sun has really wet my appetite.

Lestel. You can do as much or little as you like on sea days there is something for everyone tastes.

Hi Aussiemin

Great review, We were on the same cruise. A highlight for me was the 5 sea days heading up - soooooooooo relaxing.

We had a CC roll call meet up - it was great..so good that we met up every second day or so ( we were the ones who took over the Atrium for a couple of hours)..It would have been great if you had seen the roll call and caught up with us - a great bunch of people with whom we have become good friends with.

Once again - well done on the review

Thank you Stevedonna

That would have been great ,so you all took over Skippy's home actually my hubby and i often had a drink in there looking out the window at the ocean.

We probably did pass each other not knowing but never mind you never know one day we all may meet as we have the cruise bug now.

It certainly wont be my last time on the Sun.

Great review we had to change our cruise from the Sun Princess in May 2010 to January 2010 Flowers of Asia cruise Pacific Sun, due to personal circumstances, we are really looking forward to our cruise but after reading your review wish I was going on the Sun Princess.
