Shareholder of CC stock

Recommended Posts

You must own 100 shares or more of CCL stock. When you book a cruise, as soon as you make final payment you must fax or e mail your proof of stock to Liza McDaniel at Princess headquarters in California and have her apply your OBC to your cruise. OBC will vary depending on length of cruise. I think the maximum is $250.

How does it work if you are a shareholder of Carnival stock on a princes cruise

The following was exerpted from Toto's post. Just wanted you to know that each year when they issue their annual report' date=' the July 31st date always reflects the following year. They have been using this same format forever (or at least since I bought my stock more than 10 years ago)

The benefit is applicable on sailings through July 31, 2010 aboard the brands listed below. Certain restrictions apply. Applications to receive these benefits must be

made prior to cruise departure date.

This benefit is available to shareholders holding a minimum of 100 shares of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc. Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent

rates, tour conductors or anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer. This benefit is not transferable and cannot be used for

casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your onboard account. Only one onboard credit per shareholder-occupied stateroom. Reservations must be made by

February 28, 2010.

If your cruise agent offers a "reduced rate" are you excluded?

"anyone cruising on a reduced-rate ..... are excluded from this offer"

Not sure what you mean by reduced rate? But we always book through a TA and get a huge discount, and not had a problem one getting the stockholder shipboard credit.

I wonder if they are not referring to a TA rate or something similar?

Never had a problem with using the CCL OBC for anything - I do not use the casino, however I did cash in some unused OBC for cash in the casino. All of the OBC's show on your statement and go into one OBC pot.

Hi Ron - always good to read your posts. After July 2010, can we assume that the credits for stock ownership will change, or go away entirely? The current price for 100 shares is, around $2,700. If you only got the $250 credit for a single cruise, am I correct in thinking that's nearly a 10% return on your money? if, like us, you cruise on Princess multiple times in a year, can you get it for each cruise (sorry if that's been answered; I admit I haven't gone to the link provided earlier). Thanks Denise

Hi Ron - always good to read your posts. Can you tell me what the current price for CCL stock is? What was it a year ago? Also, after July 2010, can we assume that the credits for stock ownership will change, or go away entirely? Thanks, Denise

Price is now around $25 per share - a year ago, when I bought, it was $39 - so much for that. They were paying a dividend also, but that has stopped temporarily.

They decide whether to leave it or change it at their annual board meeting - not sure when that is.

It's a pretty good buy right now, it was down to $18 at the start of the recession.

Go for it!

Ron

Sorry here are my specific questions:

1) Will this offer of OBC change or go away after July '10

2) Could we buy stock now and apply the OBC to our two separate 15-day cruises in Nov.-Dec. (i.e. for a total of $500). That is to say, can it be applied to cruises you have already booked?

No. it is unlikely to go away they have renewed it every year for many years and yes you can get the credit for cruises already booked, you apply for the credit after final payment is made for the cruise and you can get the credit for as many cruises as you take on any line Carnival owns.:D

Thank you Goldenrod - can you direct me to the site/person from whom we could purchase the stock (we no longer deal with a money manager so would be on our own). Thanks Denise

you could use any of the on-line trading sites if you don't have a regular stock broker, E Trade, Scott Trade and many others.

PS We have a winter home in Sun City Grand :D

Goldenrod, we've met quite a few people from the Sun Cities while cruising! There is a "club" for AZ Cruisers. We attended a fun lunch at Dave & Buster's in Tempe earlier this year and we just missed one in our neck of the woods at Dillons on Thunderbird. We make our move for the winter on Oct. 3.

I am keen to purchase the CCL stock on Monday thru Scott Trade. I think it's wise to do it now, as the stock appears to be inching up.

DH is always the skeptic so he is asking if the OBC you receive because you're a stockholder can be offset by any other special offers. For instance, we're receiving double FCC credits on our upcoming B2B. Our travel agent always gets us big discounts - such discounts do not affect the stock OBC does it? Sorry Toto, I think you made that clear but, as I said, DH is soooo cautious in this terrible economy. I guess the short question is, do you get the stock OBC no matter what other discounts or OBC you received? I realize you can't get it if you're a travel agent yourself; on a free cruise, etc. But I'm assuming that we will purchase the stock, submit the proof of purchase to Princess prior to our Nov. 7 deparutre, and voila, each of those two cruises will show a $250 additional OBC?

P.S. Toto - I guess we got smacked down right and proper for our trvia thread lol. BTW, I weigh in heavily on your NOT changing your name, unless it's to something like Toto2Kansas2.

Tell your husband the skeptic that yes, you will receive all of your OBC. We quadruple dip. FCC credit, shareholder credit, TA credit and Princess credit. We get it all.

Yes, I guess the question is, given that 4 long cruises a year is not unusual for us, we have missed out on quite a bit of OBC. But water under the bridge and all that. I imagine that Colran probably told us about this a couple of years ago while we were sipping margaritas with them in Acapulco - but obviously a sledgehammer was needed. But I'm very appreciative of this information. Denise & Alan
