kapcruiser Posted December 26, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 26, 2004 Does anyone have suggestions on cheap things to do in dominica?
pholter Posted December 26, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 26, 2004 IMO, the island tours are the best bargain around and many tour operators are waiting for your business when the ship arrives. For $25-$30 you can visit all the "hot spots" and learn alot of island history, etc. I'd recommend Reyno Tours personally-great folks to spend the day with and very well recommended on these boards..... reynotours@hotmail.com
stebul Posted December 27, 2004 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2004 The highlight of Dominica, and what makes it unique from other Caribbean islands, is its rain forest and natural beauty. To see this, hire a taxi driver from the cruise ship pier. To save money, try hiring a taxi driver in the afternoon after most of the day's business has passed by (perhaps the drivers second or third trip of the day). You need about 3-4 hours to get a good taste of Dominica's scenery. There is a $3pp admission charge at both Trafalgar Falls and the Emerald Pool, but both are worth seeing. You can swim up Titou Gorge for free. There are many other hikes to scenic (free) areas, but as others on this board have said I would recommend making sure the driver/guide stays with you. Look through the Ken's Hinterland Adventure website to see descriptions off the many places to hike. http://www.kenshinterlandtours.com
