Another good place to stay post cruise is the new Seminole Hard Rock Hotel. It is about a 10 minute drive from the airport. They have an awesome pool area, as well as the casino and new shopping area. We usually prefer to stay on the beach, however we went here a few months ago and enjoyed it very much.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn Airport North for our 11/14 sailing on Jewel. Beautiful ship - you'll have a ball. This hotel was wonderful - very clean and fairly new. Nice continental breakfast. Personnel very friendly and helpful. They have free shuttle to and from airport/cruiseport. Area is ok. - we walked several blocks to a great German restaurant and felt comfortable doing so. Didn't see a lot of shopping other than "Big Lots" which us women did manage to get to that night after dinner! We got a rate of $69.00- my dh and I are state employees and so this was a gov't rate. I highly recommend this property.

great!!! I really don't think you'll be disappointed in this property - if you're up for German try that restaurant (can't remember the name) but if you ask at the front desk I'm sure they can tell you. You might want to make a reservation - it was very crowded and we had to wait about 45 mins. Have a great trip - wish we could go again!!! we miss the Jewel and all the staff - they are so friendly. Happy cruising!!!

Okay, I know go there for this type of info. Home computer the internet connection keeps failing when signing up for an account.

Here at work, that site is blocked due to it's a chat site, this site TTL isn't blocked.

So can anyone help out a 1st timer?

Post trip -Enchantment of the Sea 2/5-10th

10-12th up to Disney, found the Raddison next to the park for $105 which seems to be okay as I know right where we're at and am not allowing Priceline

to have the pick and put me in a hotel 20 minutes away which will take me 1 hour to get to the park.

??????????????????????????????????/

Back down to Fort Lauderdale Saturday 2/12 and flying out on Sunday.

Priceline what star and price?

I want to make sure we're not in a part of the city with bars on the windows, etc

thoughts and thanks!!!!!

I also booked a room thru Priceline at the Sheraton airport, pre-cruise, for $65...probably started too high, but it was cheaper than their website. I was also told there is a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, but NOT from the hotel to the pier. We'll just grab a cab at the hotel I guess.

Has anyone stayed there recently?

  • 3 weeks later...

We got stuck in FLL because of the snow storm last week, and the only hotel available was the Airport Inn (which I beleive is on SR84) Southwest Airlines found this dump for about 50 of its stranded passengers... Needless to say, we would have been better off sleeping in the airport terminal... The rooms were disgusting, we didn't even sleep under the covers, and saw roaches in the middle of the night in the bathroom.

Avoid the Airport Inn like the plague!!!!

My husband just stayed at the Yankee Clipper Hotel on 1/8/05. the cruise line booked it for our pre-night. It was horrible!! The staff is clueless, the rooms smelled like oven cleaner. Some of the staff was even rude!! The rooms were very small and just okay, except that we were in the back of the hotel where they receive deliveries and the kitchen crew hangs out all night ong and talk and scream and yell. The bus line was right there too, heard that all night. When you check in they have a policy (they said) to keep you happy and make have a comfortable stay. Baloney!! When we told them about the constant noises they said you can upgrade your room for $20.00!!  Unbelievable!! We informed RCCL about they handled us and they were not at all happy, RCCL even had a bottle of wine wating for us in our cabin.

So please don't waste your money, a lot money too, at the Sheraton Yankee Clipper.

Thanks for listening,

Peggy

Does anyone know about the Ramada Inn Fort Lauderdale airport/cruise? We are going pre-cruise. It says it has a free shuttle from the airport and to the cruise port. You also get a hot breakfast buffet!! I was quoted $104. It sounds great but is it?? And where is it located. Is it close to anything? We will be getting in at 3:45.

We stayed at he new Courtyard (the one near the Bass Pro Shop) last March post-cruise. Thought it was great, the rooms were sparkling clean, new, and beautiful. There is not a whole lot to do in the area, although the big Bass Pro Shop is next door. Not too many restaurants within walking distance either - the Islamorada Fish Company (busy and very good) and Subway are right next door. The Courtyard offers a very nice breakfast buffet (extra $$$). The workout and pool area were also very nice.

We used the Comfort Inn Airport/Cruiseport which is adjacent to the Hampton Inn mentioned above. The two hotels are more like one hotel in that they share airport shuttle and their two pools. We were very happy with our stay at the Comfort Inn. I think we paid about $75 per night for 3 people. This included pick up at the airport in a van, a free breakfast (lots of things to choose, although pretty crowded), and shuttle service to the port. Be sure to make your "reservation" to the port though because everyone else wants to go there too! Everyone was very helpful and I think it was a great value. The Comfort Inn also has an on site restaurant so we didn't need to go anywhere else. We just checked in, had some dinner by the pool, swam and slept until it was time to hop in the shuttle to our ship.

Well, I'm glad I didn't see your note before we went last week. I wouldn't have known where to go. I absolutely needed something close to the airport since we had a very early morning flight. I had already passed on those south of the airport due to bad reviews of the hotels and the areas and high rates or sold out at the hotel chain I trusted.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn FLL airport north on State road 84 (Marina Mile Rd) and were happy we did. I never once felt like I was in the bad part of town. The other guests were older, and when we arrived all packed up and ready to go cruising. Across the street was the new Holiday Inn Express and next door was what I think was a best western. We had lunch at subway, dinner at Wendy's, breakfast at dunkin donuts, looked at the Big Lots and Winn Dixie in the shopping area next door. Wished we had time for dinner at the Heidelberg Restaurant (good review earlier on this thread). The hotel was wonderful, the staff courteous and helpful, left too early to take advantage of the breakfast or the airport shuttle. They transport to both the airport and the seaport.

It is possible that this road has a bad reputation among the natives, but I would never have known that from the short time we were there. Perhaps it is time to change your opinion. Really, it looked like home instead of the unreal glamour of 17th street. I felt very comfortable. And no, I am not from the wrong side of the tracks.

Has anyone stayed here recently? Is it clean-is it safe? I know it is out of the way but we will only be there for 12 hours pre-cruise. (It is a free stay so I really shouldn't complain- but I don't want the trip to get off to a bad start witha cranky family!) Thanks for any input.
